Heya, I was just wondering if anyone have any ideas on what cable to use on my VL, I recently converted my drums to disc but I used VN parts (calipers, backing plate and rotor) and the setup on the VN is different, would the VL hand brake cable fit? Basicaly the cable would be going down instead of up to the latch. Is the spring mechanism the same on the VN as is for the VL? Thanks...

Dude, for a start most people would have just used vb to vl components but since you have used vn components that are different to the factory install maybe you should try using a vn handbrake cable?

I was told that the VN cable would be too long to use.

get one and compare it, its probally the same cable as a vl, why did you use vn gear anyway?

I think the setup is different, on the VL the spring is a continuation of the cable which hooks onto a metal hook and is on the top of backing plate and I think with the VN the spring is on the cable itself and the it's on the bottom of the backing plate, reason why I used VN stuff is because that was available at the time and what I could afford (only paid for bearings). Lifes a b|tch, hrmm.

use VN cable, if its too long its easy to modify Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Actually i double checked today there is a spring which hooks to backing plate and the hand brake latch then the the hand brake clips into the latch as well. Tho I can't remember if the bracket which holds the outer metal bit of the cable back was on the diff or the under side of the car.

I did the same mod to my old vh commodore using all vn disc brake stuff and it bolted up no worries and I used a handbrake cable meant for a disc braked vh and it fitted up without any hassles to the vn hardware.

Yeah I might give it a shot, no one seems to have any on here and some wreckers want crazy prices for one. Currently I am using the drum brake cable hehe, I did it tight enough so it actually works but obviously it's not gripping 100%.

you can pay to get your throttle cable shortened at some places, so if they can do throttle cables they should b able 2 do handbrake cables also, and its really cheap aswell if they can do them. but if u cant find sumwhere just use thew bulldog clip, if it worked for morgz u got no reason not 2 use it morgz, will it work? (i figured u better ask if it'll work 1st, lol)
