Belt tension too tight/loose? Possibly tailshaft centre bearing.

You'll wear out bearings in the alternator and water pump real quick if you over tighten the belt. It's been about 4 years since i replaced my centre bearing so i couldn't even give a ballpark figure on replacement. Anyone? Also, if it only clunks once when you take off, could be a uni joint. If it's more a constant rumble or vibration then i'd say centre bearing.
