I have a aftermarket nizpro grind cam in the car and its pretty lopey, im considering swapping to a std cam for better idle. Basically i want to know what type of experiences you guys have had with them. I currently have 180kw's or 244hp @ wheels on 12psi with a highflow turbo, ported head, 3" turbo back exhaust and no cooler. (Cooler is being set up atm) The car is rather lopey and a friend just pulled about 5hp less than me with a std cam, I really wouldnt mind having a smooth idle as the race car fad is wearing thin...

I was told the other day that the NA cam is better than the Turbo cam (as in u get better performance putting an na cam into a turbo) is this a crock of Shlt or has anyone every heard of this?

Also really interested in this question, as I have been told I'll have to get a larger cam soon, but I would rather spend my money in other areas first. Can someone in the know, post something, like aerovl, HSVSUX etc...?

Crock. For the money you have to be kidding right? We do a camshaft grind (on your cam) and machine the lifter blocks to suit for $240 incl GST. Bolt it all back in with a new seal and away you go. How much cheaper can a cam upgrade be???

I wouldn't just put in a "stage 3" cam, I'd want to get it design to suit my engine combo. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

but the fact is your not doing anything that hasnt been done before. cam grinds already exist and have been tested. they are proven to work so why would you need a special one just for your engine?

because the "tried and tested" ones are not always the best! in particular luke custom-ground a cam for a guy with a wade 818b i believe, he swapped them in and was a lot happier with the new one. more power, earlier, and a better torque spread on the dyno right luke? was it a wade or a nizpro? can't remember.

We'll wait till he puts up a post - if he feels like it. But yes my understanding is that he is very happy. I do not believe in the stage 1,2,3 either. Yes you have three or four profiles that you use, but what you do with them is a totally different story. The camshaft changes depending on a lot of factors, including the owner's age and intended use.
