i wanna know whats involved in building an rb30et motor which is capable of pulling a high 9 to low 10 sec pass.
i am not actually going to try to run these numbers sraight up but would like the engine to be able to run these times reliably its actually going to be in a street driven vl calais aero that i am building up at the moment
i am obviously going to have forgies, oring the block, match port plenum head and manifolds, cam etc.
who would be the best engine build in nsw to go to and how much am i look at price wise. not including boltons, just the block and head

ud prolly be best off going a twincam head on the rb30 block. Makes a better street/strip combo, and shouldnt be a prob reaching your goal with a few $$

Friend had an engine built by Bresciani Racing
Cost: 6500
Capable to run a high 9..
only thing he left out was forged rods.
But then you'll need another 25-30k minimum for your bolto ns and driveline.

there isnt a BEST person to build an engine!! everybody will tell you this guy is the best or another guy is better..... its all a load of s h i t, you go to whoever you feel will do a GOOD job for you!
the best way to do your research is to go and visit a few workshops you think would do a good job, speak to them individually, see what they can offer you and then make up your own mind!
yes pac performance built the fastest vlt in nsw but does this make them the best? i dont think so, they are obviously very good at what they do(build fast cars) they have proven that time and time again, but to call them the best is silly! to call anyone the best is stupid IMO.
yes toni rigoli are good, they have built one or two quick vl's.. does this make them the best, no! i think they are specialising in wrx's at the moment anyway.
pulse turbocharging have only built one quick car, a fj20 mazda 808, so i dont know where todd is coming from.
do yourself a favour and go for a drive, visit afew workshops and make up ur own mind, dont listen to people like todd.

25-10-04, 20:23 GMT+10#11 Hey Toddy boy.. there is a bit of a difference between an engine tuner and an engine builder.....
Afterall this thread is about building an rb30 to handle 9/10 second power not tuning it.. thats the job of someone else in that specialist field..
If u cant drive around and visit a few shops.. maybe give a few of them a call instead.. have a good chat to the owners of the shops.. and more importantly find out who does their machining for them and go around there aswell for a chat. the more ppl u talk to the more u'll pick up.. and this will all help in ur final decision as to who takes on the build.
Alot of shops send their machining and head work away to specialists in those fields and only really do reassembly of the engine, cheks and installation and setup..
If ur handy with a spanner.. u can save a lot of money in this game.

hey vlt_dreamer, for the $6500 what did he get done to the motor, that is around the money i was thinking about, and i am not worried about boltons ive got that all worked out for now.
morgz85 i am not interested in going the twin cam route i have already got an aftermarket plenum to suit the single cam
see at the end of the day i will probably never try to run anything like a 9 sec pass but i would like the motor to be able to handle that sorta load. I'd be happy with a high 10, low 11, but with even that i am probably going over board because it will be just for street maybe be the odd drag to see how it competes but nothing more than that for now. Maybe ill changed my mined later and thats why i want it to be able to handle it.(i change my mind like i change my undies lol).
see it will be going into a into a harlequin painted aero which i am in the middle of getting it painted
