Hi guys,
I've already searched and found a few threads but there were so many different ideas that were put forward as to the problem that I thought I might aswell try and explain what's happening in my case and see what answers I get.
I have an '87 N/A VL and it vibrates when I'm picking up speed. If I back off and speed up real slow it doesn't do it, and doesn't do it in overdrive either. It only does it when it's warm though, not when it's cold (no, I don't flog it when it's completely cold). It's pissing me off though.
Any ideas? Help is appreciated.
P.S. The centre bearing has been replaced just a few weeks ago and the old vibration stopped now I'm getting this one!
Cheers.
Dad put a new centre bearing in the other week and he said if it was tailshaft it would be doing it all the time and he said something about it not being uni joints but I forget now... That's why I'm asking here.
It's weird that it only does it when it's warm though... It's coming from like the middle section I think. Dad says it may be something to do with the tranny or something.
Any ideas appreciated.
Sounds like tailshaft. Is it worse on hard acceleration up a hill??
If i were you i would pull out the shaft and get it balanced, and have them check the unis at the same time, they probably will anyway
