Hey ppl, my vl is really ****ting me, When i go 4 cruises in my vl the temp goes nuts past Halfway. Ive changed the radiator, Put thermo then back 2 new clutch fan, new water pump, new thermo stat then took it out all 2 gether, I would not have a clue on what it is the only thing left is the 3800 stally? COuld this play apart of the overheating cause have the strain it puts on the motor i know 3800 is too big for the street. Anyone got ideas or has this happened to any1 cheerz...

I had a bigger stall in mine and it was fine, don't take the thermostat out because the coolant can flow thru the radiator to quick to cool down, maybe try running you trans cooler thru an external cooler only as this adds temperature to the radiator. other than that not real sure

Where exactly is the temp going to? all the way up? If the car has over heated pretty bad before then there is a fair chance that the head gasket might be gone.

Are you actually sure the car is getting hot? Could it be that your temp gauge is not accurate, or your temp sender is faulty ?

not the stally, theres ppl out there with 5500 in daily drivers. For the motor to get hot you're meaning prob means the head gasket, normally id say the water pump, thermostat and/or waterpump but you've replaced em all! so thats leaving the head OR hopefully as said above, the temp sensor is just busted... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i would put the thermostat back in as it gives the computer the wrong read's cause the water is moving to fast through the engine!

3800 stally...5500 stally...on the street! farkin hell...fair enough i guess Whats your coolant state? your not leaking anywhere are you? As mentioned above, check your head gasket you could have issues, and do it quick before you blow or warp something..

also does your over flow bottle have a holes in it? if the radiator is pressurised, holding pressure it will also run alot hotter than it's supposed to! so a holy over flow bottle or a faulty radiator cap will contribute to the over heating problem!

Sounds like your head champ! Give me a yell if you need any tips etc, i just pulled mine off on the weekend and the headgasket was destroyed! Seeing as though you've been driving it still and the problem has been there a fair while by the sounds of things, I'd probly get the head recoed or buy another good second hand one.

Its not the head gasket the motor was redone about 4 weeks ago,The heads were also checked out and there fine, wen the car does heat up and i turn the radiator cap half turn 2 release pressure through the overflow it doesnt release. The radiator has been changed and is not leaking at all, been flushed as well. Im not to sure how big the transcooler is on the stally but my mechanic told me the stally would be contributing to the car heating up, so im not to sure i have done nearly everything in the books 2 keep this puppy cool but Nothing. 4 eg, saturday night went up to penrith cruising 110 freeway with very cold winds the car was sitting on 1 under fully hot? and wen i pulled over to release some pressure cause i was in a hurry the water just spitted out of the radiator? Help will be greatly appreciated guyz!

Not to sure, but this is really starting to give me the ****s could the reason be i may not have a big trans cooler? and for a 3800 stally im sure it needs 2 be big!

have you got a aftermarket computer?? if so plug in the hand controller and see exactly what temp the car is running at! my car always reads on the last line before being in the red(the dash temp guage) but its running at 86degrees on the hand controller which is perfectly fine!

vl 2 freak, you say you vl was redone 4 weeks ago, as in rebuilt id asume. anyway what are you doing 110 along a freeway, i was told that you shouldnt go more then 80-90km/ph when running in the motor, unless you have done more then 500ks a week.....correct me if im wrong here but i have a manual from betta bilt motors and they recommend you run a high performance motor in for at least 1000 -1500 kms. and you must fluctuate your speed. and have you looked at your oil, to see if your mixxing coolent. just another thing did you bleed your cooling system proply coz if not you might have trapped air bubbles in your motor and you dont want that to happen. also have you got the right oil in there????

Yea maco i did all of the above, and i did run it in.. I got an aftermarket ecu but no hand controller its an haltech, also i know the car is running hot coz of the motor itself. Im going to change the clutch fan AGAIn coz i just realised wen i turn the car off fan still spins and stops slowly instead of stopping suddenly?
