Hey- I have a problem with my front brakes and I cant find the problem, ive replaced pads, balanced tyres, new machined disc, new front struts, and they got balanced yesterday. What happens is when I slow down, put my foot on the break, the steering wheel shakes from side to side, not that bad but it gets worse as I brake harder. Any ideas what the problem could be? thanks

check wheel bearings, all bushes in the front, check the gland nut which holds struts in(under rubber strut boot), who machined the discs and did they do both?

thanks, a brake shop machined both, they are a really good shop and would have been done properly, and it has new pads too. I will check out the stuff you mentioned thanks

Usually shuddering means warped discs.

machine the rears if u have 4 wheel disc, or maybe your drums are rooted and/or full of dust.

I think u may need to rebuild your one of your callipers. The braking force is not getting distribute to the front callipers, Thats why i think when you break your car is tends to move toward the left or the right depending of which calliper is stufft, holding the streering wheel straight and the car moving left or right , u'll definately get a shaking steering wheel when breaking.

on-car machiners are no different to a lathe machiner as they both can be ****house if not setup properly. on-car is a slow piece of crap that is heavy and a bitch to get the correct runout
