I'm due for a set of piston rings in my turbo. Last time I used hastings rings, which I've used in customers car and they're fine, but in the Vl the ring gap was to big. It runs fine (flys actually), but has way to much blow by as evidenced by a smoke trail when on full boost. Oil usage is stuff all, and the bores are fine. What I would like to know is if anyone is able to get hold of the factory part numbers for the rings (cylinder grades were 2 and 3), or are the rings the the same as aussie built naturally asperated skylines? Wouldn't surprize me if they are the same. The reason I want the part numbers is I work at a Nissan dealer and have found that Nissan parts are cheaper than the rebadged holden part.

Pistons are different but the rings are the same, though for 1mm o/s the N/A part number is 12038B4900 for some weird reason. For Turbo - Ring Set (Graded & .020mm o/s)........1203367S10 Ring Set (.50mm o/s).......................1203667S10 Ring Set (1.00mm o/s).....................12038B4910 Wouldn't bet on Nissan being cheaper. Prices vary all over the place, but if you get a discount then all the better.

Turbo and non-turbo rings were slightly different according to my manual. I can't find it at the moment and I can't remember exactly how they were different, but I'm sure they were.

I seem to remember some small size difference too, or there was a different chamfer on one of the rings.
