I need to replace the control arm bushes, so a few questions! I've been advised that rubber is the way to go for these particular bushes (rather than nolathane), is that true, and what sort of brand/price am I going to be looking at for newies? Is this a job I can do without any specialised tools (ie pressing machines)?. Cheers!

dude. can of worms question but being a mechanic ive had a fair bit to do with bushes. my opinion is that bushes that act in a side to side way "if you know what i mean. hard to explain" i would use nolathane cos its harder and will lessen bodyroll. For the straight ahead bushes "once again if you get me" use rubber cos it is not as harsh as nolathane and ive found these bushes in nolathane flogg out much quicker. like some have lasted a few months. plus you do a lot more braking and accelr8ing than cornering and you dont want harshness doing that. cant help you on a price sorry. As for fitting you can buy arms already bushed from nolathane but they dear. I use a press to fit them but if your keen i guess you could use a hammer, socket etc. just use the proper grease to lube them up on the way in. and dont tighten them up fully till the car is on its wheels. That is my opinion and i hope it helps
