I'm toying with the idea of selling my 5L VL and buying a Turbo VL... simply cause of fuel economy (I know turbo wouldn't be that much greater if i boosted everywhere :P) and because to get my 5L in a better condition i'd be looking at spending another 2000 grand easily... In my opinion, i'd say i could get $3500 minimum for my VL (note: my opinion) and then i'd need an extra 3000 to buy a stock as a rock Turbo VL. So here are the options really... - Keep my 5L VL and spend another $2000 on it to get it in a condition i'd like - Sell it for $3500 min., get another $3000 and buy a stock VLT - Sell it for $3500., buy a N/A VL for $3000 and do a Turbo conversion (not sure if it'd work out cheaper than the above option) Any constructive comments/advice is welcome. Cheers guys.

dont do the conversion. youd have to be nuts to do that when you can just buy one. its cheaper in the long run too

mate buy a original turbo, any second hand car u buy will always need something fixed on it doesnt matter how much you paid.

For an extra $2000 I can get rid of all those problems in my VL and have a nice running car... If i buy a VLT for $6500+ there's gonna be little things that will keep adding up and eventually i'll be paying $8000 for it and being in school I can't really fund that kind of project. As much as i love the roar of my 8, the turbo would be more economical (with no boostin') and would be a lot better project than the old 8.

as much loved as the vl turbo is, uv gota choose. if ur 5L Is smick, hang on to it and wack it on gas unless ur chasin power, then it would deffinatly be worth changin to a vl tubo. once you drive a turbo ull wanna give it sh|t everywhere so it''l chew the juice anyway. tough decision, i went from a 5L vl calais to a calais turbo 5 speed and now i woud never go back. i miss the V8 rumble but id rather the turbo anyday.

I love the feel of the 5L... Maybe spend a grand and get it 100% on gas, save you some money, then bolt a blower on or somthing down the track,... As they say... It is better the Devil you know.. then the Devil you dont

It's a lose-lose situation when it comes to fuel economy for both cars.

If you buy a turbo, you will NOT drive it off boost, and the 5L will chew anyway... better off getting a $500 ****ter and keeping the turbo/5L for the weekend mate...

mate after having 2 na autos, a vs, and an na 5spd, i finally have a turbo. each car i got i wanted to mod, in the end i just bought a factory turbo. i spent about the same on that as the car cost me to get it the way i wanted it anyway.. bottom line is.. get something as close to what you want to start with and fix/change things on that as you like. if you want a turbo, get one.. dont bother doing the conversion unless you happen to have an n/a so good that you'll never get another one the same (ie resprayed no rust etc etc etc)
