Just got an intercooler installed - now everytime i take my foot off the accellerator after it hits boost, a cloud of white smoke comes out the exhaust. I traced the rear oil breather line going into the cooler pipes (from cooler to t/b) instead of into the air intake piping as before - which means this see's boost now - would this be the problem (ie, did the workshop screw up and put it in wrong, or is it bad to have the line before the turbo so oil doesn't end up going all through the intercooler).

Sounds like the turbo seal is on its way mark! What boost you running now?

Yes it should be plumbed into the intake pipe before the Turbo inlet Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

hahahah thought so.... if your in Brisbane and want to know which "Performance" work shop did this - give me a PM. At the moment, instead of tapping into another pipe - i've salvaged a one way valve from a spare plenum and will put this into the piping going to the breather line. Will let ya's know how it goes.

Ok... put the one way valve on - stopped the smoke, and holy shieet does it go good now - however, there is a howling noise coming from the engine bay somewhere.. (possible vacuum leak ????) and the car surges a bit after closing the throttle - and sometimes lets out a small backfire (certainly can't be good).... Might try getting the line tapped into the correct pipe (inlet piping) and see how I go from there - at least its not blowing massive clouds of smoke now...

Thats Rubins answer to everything... "My headlights wont work.... Sounds like the turbo seal" "My car doesnt start on cold mornings.... Sounds like the turbo seal" BTW: got it almost going good now - with the second one way valve on it, the rocker cover couldnt suck anything, so it was in a state of vacuum, making the howling noise... so the answer to my problem will be to tap it into where it is supposed to go (surprise surprise) which i'll get my other half's dad to do tomorrow. P.S. - Rubin, car is still running between 9 and 10 psi - havent put the boost controller on yet, waiting to sort this mess out first, then will up the boost to about 12 or 13 psi (on high boost) and return low boost to as low as possible (~7psi) for daily driving. Have already wired the wagon switch up to bring the "PWR" light on the dash on when it'll be on high boost, and off when on low boost (Thanks Jet-6).

do you have an aftermarket computer?backfires upon throttle closing can be caused by the injectors running on after you get off it.i had this problem once.my comp has an injector cut out at a presetable(is that a word?) vacuum reading.
