Hey guys, I'm planning on doing my car up step by step towards turbo, and well, as far as the steps are concerned I was planning on it being, Brakes, Gearbox, ENGINE! However, In my quest for wanting things looking good and having things planned I wouldn't mind grabbing a Plenum now.. It's a semi expensive mod for an n/a especially if my main motive for it right now is to make the engine bay tidier (until I get the vlt engine) Anyway to my point, how poorly, if at all, will the car run afterwards. Naturally if it was installed AFM would have to be relocated along with the Filter as the inlet would be facing towards the battery. Which isn't too much of a drama because if that was the case all I would do would be moving the battery to the right and the inlet to the left. If anyones got any thoughts about this let me know? My original plan was to just get the rocker cover painted along with some mandrel bent inlet piping instead of the old black piping. Just to get things looking tidier. Can anyone see anything wrong with moving the battery? Moving the inlet? Main concerne is how poor would it run with the plenum.. Thanks in advance.

champ - overall you want my honest opinion ? unless you can get under the car with some mates and do the complete conversion yourself without paying anyone to touch a thing I would sell up, save and buy a vlt straight out. even if you have to spend 150 bucks on a plan ticket down to melb, stay with someone here off the forums and search for a beast to drive back up. Ive done almost 5 complete conversions from front to tail and although its pretty easy once youve done it - it can be a real ****ox of a job and will cost you some moolah. have a think - but as far as the Rajab plenum goes, I cannot speak highly enough of them, they have been proven to work on both n/a and turbo.

Cheers Petros, but conversions still a go'er.. I know that if I wanted to sell up - hold onto a bit of money I could more then likely find a vlt. But at the moment I'm keen for the conversion, Basically all thats left for me to do is brakes (diff aswell but I'll wait for it to break) Then source an engine and bolt in.. Or build an engine and have a car off the road for a while, depends how much money I have at the time.

the plenum as cool as it would be to have on the car right now.. it probably better left to when u actually put a turbo motor in there.. otherwise u have to do things twice and u lose money and waste time.. if when u are doin the converion u are planning on retaining the stock ecu and sensors u will probably have to get the rear flat part of the rajab plenum machined flat and drill and tap holes to accomidate the vl idle control bit (same bit that gets screwed into the back of the jd plenums) as for the plenums tho.. they are definately worth gettin, look awesome, and they work ! do ya driveline first man, sounds annoying.. but trust me u'll be happy when u drop turbo motor in and dont have it off the road a week later replacing box and diff when u snap em Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Spend your money on the turbo conversion parts, the plenum will provide minimal gains on an n/a and its too expensive for an item that isnt vital to your turbo setup. Cheapest and easiest way to do the covnersion is to get 6 vlt injectors, vlt computer, and the whole turbo side (manifold, shields, gaskets, oil/water lines, T3 Turbo, dump and front section exhaust to cat [can be custom]). Plenum and so forth can come later. While its all well and good to tidy up the engine bay, keep it cheap and simple as its the turbo conversion you really want.

well the plenum would hold more air than the old one, so in theory you'de lose some low end which isnt a good thing for a fairly stock n/a, i agree with exchaser, wait til u drop tha turbo in. you could save up a little more and drop an rb25 head on ur n/a and turb that Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Thanks guys - It'll all come down to how much cash I have when the time comes, with any luck I'll be half loaded and can do most of it at once. Thanks again
