Just Thought id add this after being asked how to install a T-Piece from a 1st VLCT and i think turbo car owning its pretty simple.
Step.1.!!i would not install a T-Piece or boost controller unless you have a mean of knowing what level of boost your are running Boost Gauge is a must for setting the boost up!!.
Step.2.Find your Wastegate Actuator on the turbo housing mostly its Goldie in colour and has a Rod going fron it to the back of the Turbine housing.
Step.3.Now There should be a Pipe out the end of the Actuator going to either the Plenum or the Turbo housing itself on the Turbine exit pipe which goes to plenum.
Step.4. Cut the pipe in in half so it is open and insert ur T-Piece Boost controller between the pipe where you have just cut it (Make sure your T-Piece is facing the right way some have an arrow on flow direction flow goes from turbo to plenum)
Step.5.Take it for a spin watch your gauge best to like be in a gear which has alot of load like maybe low revs in 3rd see what PSI you are running and adjust to your desirable boost pressure.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

thanx ur help
here is a pic closer resembling the t3
u might have to goto repco or somewhere to buy a longer hose, as i tried to install the t piece but the hose was to small to hold it on properly

are these boost controllers high-low or do you just turn it to what you think should be say 10psi and go test it, if not. turn it back a little etc?

some boost controlers you can mount inside the car and then take it out the road bring it on boost in say 3rd gear and adjust it to the desired boost level, although I have had experience with bleed valves spiking boost but I think this is due to cheap and nasty controllers, EBC are the best way to go

yeah i got a bleed value sometimes spikes 1 psi or 2 max
just run a conservative boost figure and ull be fine
most bleed valved cant hold much more than 15psi anyway

u may aswell get a aftermaket ecu with boost controll feature with some of the price fo electronic boost controllers these days

this is good stuff guys, will come in handy for alot of people.

I reckin the best way to adjust boost is from the wastegate.
i knwo theres a way standard wastegates can be set as my old TX3 i got the turbo hi flowed and the wastegate set to 12 psi but that was after a recondition and hi flowing so garrett actully set it up for me.
i know with external wastegates some can be adjusted.

yeah u can buy a new actuator. stock vlts come with a 7psi actualtor, replace that with a 14psi item and then u dont need a boost controller and ur boost goes up to 14psi
is that right?

21-01-05, 13:55 GMT+10#10 I know when I bought my mates VLT which is in 100 million bits, the way he controlled boost was the previous owner moddified the actuator rod by putting a thread on it so you could wind the boost up or down, this was before bleed valves were common...

31-03-05, 21:27 GMT+10#12 Its A Valve, Which Will Decrease The Engine Vacuum To The Waste Gate Actuator... The Gold Thing... As You Open The Valve More (just Like A Tap In The Bathroom) Your Taking The Vacuum Away So The Wastegate Will Open Later...

01-04-05, 07:51 GMT+10#13 Hence the name "bleed valve"
I dont know if i would go and play with the actuator, you would be better off buying a boost controller because at least you can controll what it is doing.

01-04-05, 08:03 GMT+10#14 Mine has a short bit of pipe coming from the t peice about 7 inches long that conects to
the bleed valve, is this a good setup as i have noticed there is a lot of lag when i up the boost and it just doesnt feel right.. would i be better off shortening the pipe to the valve??

04-04-05, 00:46 GMT+10#15 I have had a look at my tube, and its really hard to get to because its too short.. Can i go to supercheap etc. and buy a longer piece of hose so the controller is easier to get to? or will this cause problems?

Be more to do with the turbo...is it a stock T3? Unfortunately they wont hold 22-23psi man, exhaust wheel is too small hence the spike then boost tapers off as you rev it.

22-06-05, 23:26 GMT+10#18 u know the cheapest way toget more boost, is to get a longer hose. The one that u put the bleed valve in. If its a stock one its about 7-8 psi so if u double the length u get about 14psi. Its not really accurate but it works if ur a terry tight arse and want to spend money on other things

If you set your boost to say 15psi when you spool it up and it comes on boost it hits like 16-20psi then drops back down to 15.
Very dangerous if ur running high boost!
