Looks clean! piss off those little plastic grandpa protectors ASAP.
Personally i'd get rid of the pin striping if possible too.
Good work to find such a clean 5speed!

Thanks fellas, i plan on modifiying bits and pieces soon, but right now the funds are a little bit low.
Platinum and on19svl the protectors, mudflaps and pin stripes will all be removed, i agree they look a bit faggy.
Morgz85, the car was on sale for $3990 but i got it down to $3200 which i was happy to pay. You got quite the bargain for yours, all the VLs i'd checked out around here for that price were pretty ****e or had a heap of km on the ticker.
I'll post pictures as i go along.

Chaser?
Those pinstripes are impossible to get off too, had them on the VH and ended up ruining sections of the paintjob where we "tried" to get them off...gotta respray...
Clean looking car though, I payed about the same for mine ($2800) but mine's not in that kind of condition (although not far off) and it's 5L. Got mine with insurance money for gettin rammed in the ass in the VH actually :P

The pin stripes seem to come off easy, i haven't tried to completely take them off yet but when i was going out i had a go at the end of the rear stripe and it peeled back nice. Hopefully will come off without hassle.

01-10-04, 23:49 GMT+10#15 Got the pin stripes off - i wasn't going to myself incase it farked the paint, but i noticed a bubbly bit, and thought may aswell give it a burl and vwala - simple. Took a while though, it kept tearing, the car seemed to go on for bloody ages. haha.

05-10-04, 01:00 GMT+10#18 Hmmm. I've got pinstripes on my red vl, i want to take em off coz they look crap, but i was thinkin that the paint underneath them wouldn't of faded, so i would still have lines there. Is this true?
Also pics of my car can be found at http://pwnbox.no-ip.org/car/
btw nice ride mate
i picked up mine for $3350 from a dealer in adelaide, 202k on the clock, its onyl an auto tho, but thats wot i wanted really. I thought it was a great buy as the cars i looked at down here were overpriced and trashed.
Only thing wrong with it was a leak in the boot drip tray, which i have fixed now. and i think it might have a small hole somewhere in the exhaust, but thats gettin replaced so its all good. Atm i am workin on installin the stereo.
sorry for the hijack mate

05-10-04, 11:36 GMT+10#19 Thats cool, sweet car mate. Your pin stripes don't stand out too much in those photos, and i don't think they look that bad. Your correct kind though, when i took mine off the paint was in better condition underneath, and a faint line was visible if you really looked hard, but i gave it a polish and i cant see it at all now.
It may be more noticable on your car though, as it's red. Maybe just peel back the end of one the stripes and see what it looks like underneath, or just leave it and keep them on until you get re-sprayed if you ever do, like 10zvl suggested to me.
Be careful if you take them off, i don't know if i was lucky as to how easy mine peeled off, so make sure its not pulling the paint off!

05-10-04, 16:32 GMT+10#20 man my car came covered in like tree sap and it hadnt been washed for like 4 yr's, the paint looked pink, then i cut and polished the whole car and it came good, but when i took the stripes off u could tell were they had been, so i gave those area's an xtra polish
