This may have been Mentioned b4 but I have not seen it on the site. Every time I parked in Newcastle people would try their luck at taking my car by shoving vk-vl Keys in my hole and working on the Idea that 5%(or somthing like that) of them fit other VLs, needless to say it rooted that key hole, and they could get away with trying cause they can neal down and no one driving past could see em. So what I did, when I got my car resprayed, I had the Lock (key hole) removed from the pass side, not only does it look smick, it stops it from getting rooted. allso when you update your alarms from the Calais normal Try to have the Cental locking mech put on the Drivers side only, so They have to stand out on the street and try to break in, more chances of them being spoted that way. I have seen some where, people have taken all the locks off, and just use a remote, that way you can properly Sheild against it. people with coat hangers. But I have the one Solex lock on my car, just incase tech fails me :-) Also a good idea, change the barrel for starting your baby, just incase some theif gets lucky and his key opens your door, you dont want him to get it that easy to start it too... have to make Theifs work for it.

in theory it sounds like a good idea by taking off ur door locks, and yes it does look heaps better, but there are other ways to get in... no matter wot we do someone will always take ur car if they want it bad enough. making it harder is the key, but if u make it too hard they will **** it up on u. u cant win! its farked but thats how it is.

I've had my car broken into. They used keys to get in and the only thing stoping them from taking the car was a my steering lock. They did get some stereo gear but but atleast they cant take my car.

Then from the unit where i lived it was found the next day infront of a primary school. also at safeway in st.albans it was found parked out the back in the alley bloody *******s hope they all die and rot in hell !!!

"what happens if you shut the door and your keys are on the seat?" mines the same dude, you just dont leave the keys in the car, you learn to remember after 3 or 4 times.

if i walk 10 meters from my car with my keys the car locks and the alarm arms it self, and it i come with in 10 meters the car unlocks. so if i walk away and the car ant beep then i know my keys are not with me.

ey i dunno much about the solex locks but they would only be good for deterring ppl who use other vl keys or locksmith tools on ur locks as if they do the usual which is shove a screw driver into the side of the lock and pop it out so that they can pull lock off and then pull the lever attached to the end of stock vl lock or push it ,then solex will be exactly the same wont it? altho its costly and a bitch if it fails i'd prefer to have no locks at all and be locked out myself if the system fails once or twice least u r sure the usual junkies wont b able to steal ur car either...lol...no locks makes junies think fark too much bull**** lets go 2 next car...unless they see full on leather interior or sumtin of course. its sad but my theories aren't crap my car has been borken into 6 times using this method its farkin annoying and costly to fix panel and lock again...they cant get far anyways when car has immobiliser and club lock and cop lock and kill switches but they love to damage ur car. this is why i suggest just filling up all locks n b done with it...costs up front but reap rewards down the track... I noticed the VL calais had a squarish piece that covers the locks where the window sits. It is to protect thieves from sliding a coat hanger down and trying to open the door locks. Has anyone pulled apart their front door trims and had a look ? its got two flat hinges that hand just under the outside chrome trim just above the door handle. but solex will make it harder for them to stick the screwdriver in the lock and fark them up. I had thieves do that to my car so put in SOLEX locks. Have a look !

My berlina has the sheilds your talking about... i locked my keys in my cars bout a month ago (stupid me), and i was far away from home, and at shops in Sorth Hedland in the pilbara WA, stayed with the car, for 2 hours. we tried everything to get the keys out, in the end, we used a tyre leaver to go in and hook the keys out... so there deffinantly hard to get the keys out off, but not gonna be able to stop some desperate **** who rips the keylock out
