Can anybody tell me what they've run down the Quarter or on the Dyno in their Stock (Or close to) VL N/A Autos? I had my car Dynoed and then went to Willowbank Test N Tune last night and I got 83.6 RWKW and ran a 17.3 @ 64MPH, these are the Mods I've done power wise...
Mandrel Bent Extractors
High Flow Cat
2.5" Exhaust with Sports Muffler
K&N Panel Air Filter with Custom Cold Air Induction
PowerChip Gold (Tuned for 98 Octane Fuel)
Large Transmission Cooler
Engine was Rebuilt with a New Head and Reco Injectors about 20000KM Ago
Fully Rebuilt Auto, New Torque Converter, Custom Shift Kit, Strengthened - Good for 450HP or so...
Am I missing something because I think theres something really wrong with my times, its a Calais but it still shouldn't be that slow. I managed to launch with no wheelspin off the line, there was no way I could possibly make this thing go faster. The only extra weight is a Sub box and 2 Amps, so its not like its majorly weighed down. Can anyone else tell me their experiences with their N/A Auto so I can figure out whats happening?
Thanks

17.3 is about what they ran from the factory according to Magazines of the day.
But your MPH is abnormally low for even a 17.3!
As a guide my old R31 Skyline auto wagon...with 126rwHP ran a 16.223 @ 85mph

Stock as a rock RB30 stock auto (slipping) No extractors just 2.5 pressbent exhaust, and CAI with K & N filter and I ran a 16.7 @ 84.46 mph.
I think you got a problem some where for sure. I've now got extractors and a better auto. Hopefully time will be better but i've spun a bearing so It'll have to wait.
ps. I got mine dynoed in that cond and I got 126 rwhp. Thats roughly 92 rwkw.

sorry never had mine dynoed but with extractors, 2.5 inch exhaust and cold air intake (no high-flow filter even) i ran a 16.46. the car is an auto and everything else was stock.

Did you manually shift? If so, at what rpm? BTW 64mph, that is really low.

My launch was perfect, I did 2 runs letting the Auto shift itself which is at 5000RPM, but shifting Manually worked out to be slightly faster, doing that I was changing at 5500RPM, as far as I know thats where Peak Power should be. I was only just shifting into Drive as I went through the traps, so I didn't really even need to get out of 2ND...

Well second gets to 120, and I doubt that you would go much faster than that, but that time seems abnormally low

14-08-04, 19:35 GMT+10#12 john001, i've been told manuals are faster when driven right and they can also get better dyno results when driven right so maybe we shouldnt compare auto to manula, but yeh kylie should be getting into the 16s fairly easily, kylie was the car in overdrive? lol cos that, although being a really stupid mistake, would explain a lot

16-08-04, 01:54 GMT+10#13 No, no Overdrive, also, I was reading the Time Slip wrong, it was actually 82MPH, which makes more sense, but is still damn slow...
