ok now i was just reading this mag had a VL turbo in it probley seen it 23QOUT now i was reading it has RB30ET camtech cam JE forged pistons+moly rings nitrated crank T3 with T04 internals mt8 ecu GTR injectors hi flow Fuel pump HKS cooler,3inch,K&N filter 164kw@wheels 13.2 sec QM then theres a R33 GTS-T RB25DET XTRGT35 Turbo Custom cooler K&N filter modified plenum LT8 ECU 3.5 inch exhaust 245kw@wheels now u would think the VL is better why is the power so low??? my VL has standard internals RB30ET Twincam head T3 turbo from Rb20 smaller 10 psi Front mount exhaust pod 150kw@Wheels so would my car be doing 13.80 or somthin around there??? cause that power for that VL seems very very low?

yeh boost levels would largely affect power output.... Plus the size of the turbos and engine management.

NEVER believe anything you read in a car magazine

especially any commodore magazines they are only for people who believe in : "sports" exhausts "stage 3" headwork "hi flow" turbos & "tricked up" autos, etc etc they rarely print anything of substance

Also that doesn't take into account traction etc.....hell a Gen 3 with only 200kw will run a 12 with the correct suspension and diff setup..... Power curve and "arse end" make a good 1/4 time, not outright power......

very true turboluke, i hate all that "stage 3" (rap, they should say wot it iz! i read the SC magazine about brutes, there was nothing techincal in there at all, a 12 year old would probably say the same!

yea its very strange like i seen this sign up on a brige of the New Ford Falcon GT Mother of muscle cars or somthin. 290kw now thats at the engine, people look at it and think whoa thats more then a GTR u know then i laugh and think lol u guys dont have a clue. some people even think wen they say the engine is 100kw thats how power full the car is lol. it all comes down to wats at the wheels and weight and so on. also just wen i was talkin about VL 23QOUT it has 164kw @ wheels and did a very smokey QM time of 13.20 with a stall convertor 3500rpm. now the VL WLDPSI has 313kw @ wheels did a QM of low 11's or somthin i think has RB30/26 now he has almost double of that KW as 23QOUT but if 23QOUT if he got slicks full grip would he do a lower time?? so would he be breaking into high 12's with 164kw @ wheels???? and then theres RAJAB's colour flip VL it duz 9 second or somthin and man i cant even see a intercooler or anything at the front susposed 2 have standard head aswell if i seen it in the street id laugh it just dosnet look like a 9 second car really.

Yeah it seems very strange, I just had mine tuned and dynoed by Bresciani Racing and it had 173.4kw @ wheels, all I have is completely stock engine with 13PSI, large intercooler, cold air intake, 3 inch Exhaust and thats about it. If you were going to spend so much on the engine wouldn't you just up the turbo a little???? it sounds like it could handle it!

Yeah, I know where you guys are coming from. I had 170rwkw, on my old setup, yet I recon I'd of got hosed by a VN V6, until it came on boost, it was laggy and quite a mild combo. I currently have 200rwkw yet it makes full boost and massive torque right down low, at around 2300-2500rpm, while it's only a 30rwkw jump in power, the current setup makes it a soo much faster car. It feels like a different car, just by the way it produces it's power.

for 23qout that 164kw @ the wheels, u dont knwo how many psi he is running. with his mods he could ne running stock boost with those mods and prob get that power.

(I didn't buy a 3 bar MAP sensor for nothing ) hehe I'm just thinking now, a manual instead of the trimatic would be better suited to make full use of the low end power, due to more ratios. Stocky, your dead right! Peak power is basically irrelevant, especially for a streeter. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

so what ur saying is its better to get in front by 3000rpm then have to wind it out to catch up at 6500rpm is that wat u mean? so lag would also be a prime suspect aye.

it all depends on what you want the car to do. if you have a 4000rpm stall convertor and you have full boost at 4500rpm with huge high-end power, your car will be an absolute **** to drive on the street, but launch it right and you'll have a good 1/4 mile time. if you drive the car on the street everyday, have a standard stall convertor or manual transmission, with a mild setup making 200-250rwkw you will be much happier because you won't have to wait around for the hairdryer to spool every time you want to go somewhere. it's not peak power that makes a street car fast, it's how that power is delivered.
