Dumbass question probably but can i just plug in a vq statesman climate control unit in and everything will work or will some custom wiring etc. be needed????

no. There is a huge amount of stuff that goes with Climate control. There is various sensors and heaps of other stuff. You will need to get all the associated parts to do the conversion.
