I was reading one of the other threads and it said dont chop springs because they could fall out from going over a pott hole. How does it pop out on the front when the front strut sits in between the coil spring anyway? I can understand how they could pop out from the back because theres nothing holding them in other than weight of the car. Thanks!

Thanks! don't chop the springs. it's stupid and looks stupid too. bouncin around and such. it's also dangerous. the front's can't physically fall out, but they can come off the seats.

mayby 2" lower? i have 225 50 16's on my vl, which has been lowered ( properly, not cut springs) it pisses me off all the time being that low, but it looks good :| i'm thinking about swappin it for standard suspension. lowered suspension is so hard :|

well you got koni's so of course they are more then the shocks kramer got.. kramer: did you get gabriel shocks?? or something like that?? it all depends on what you want to do as for chopping the springs its a big no no and cna be very bad... in the end it all comes down to what kind of setup you wish to run and how deep your hip pocket is....

chopped springs are an instant defect and also stuff up the pressure ratings on the springs, they won't ride properly, get proper lowered springs, i've seen second hand sets for $50 in the trading post, they interchange from vb to vp.

Why not just take the spring out all together and just well some bars in there place? Chopping springs is a very cheap way to lower your car and f#ck it at the same time. I know cars are expensive but save for a set of springs even if you don't change your shocks(as long as they are in reasonable condition). Chopped springs are unsafe and f#cking harsh on your car. Handling and rides stability go to shiit, along with the tendency of falling out they also bottom out easily. When I was working as an apprentice mechanic the place I worked was also a brake and suspension specialist. Anyways there were a few tools who brought there cars to be lowered properly after they learnt the hard way. They chopped there springs, the suspension then bottoming alot. This resulted in cracked paint due to the flex and stress placed on the body. It also f#cked other suspension components. For a matter of around $1000 fitted you can lower a car which includes springs, shocks, adjustable panhard rod and replacement of most bushes. This will get the car handling alot better as well and a really good street setup.

cutting springs is just fvckin stupid... BUT you wont have any probs with cutting decent stiffer springs. thing is, if youve gone to the expense of buying stiffer springs, for the same amount of cash and less hassle you can just get lowered stiffer springs. just dont heat the fvckers up, then you got probs. -jimmy

ring K-mac, they will make you a spring to whatever height you want, then if you fit them and they are too low / high for your liking, kmac will reset them for you.

I had my car lowered 1st time around they put gabrielle in, was low as i could get legally... fudgin hard to ride in, mostly everyone complained but me, cuz hey its my car! but i got tired of it, so i had it all replaced with pedders, best move.. its not as hard but still a bit but then i got 17's too on it... Never buy gabrielle!! thats what i had first and they mayb cheap but crap it, hard, and the front suspension was that hard the car would barely move 2mm cuz they had seized one of them.... id say go pedders/kings/koni something along those lines... btw cost me around the 1g mark fitted to replace the lot and a couple bushes.
