hey guys
Just got a 87 berlina wagon, stock as a rock. I wanna lower it just on the stocko 14s for now. just wanting some advice on how low i can have it, without it being super rough. I've got a bit of money together for some springs, but some mates are telling me just to chop em for now... but ive herd its really dodgy and rough. what do ya reckon? any advice would be great.
cheers

Don't chop. King superlows or the equivalent height to them will be quite low but still useful. Any lower than that and you start scraping on everything. Remember, DON'T CHOP ok? Your mates have no brains, nor respect for the safety of other road users if they think chopping springs is cool.

chop em and all it takes is a pothole under acceleration and "BOOM" there goes your spring poppin outta place (and bouncing down the road) and your car outta control and prolly smashed up and maybe cleaning some spectators up at the same time
Yeah go some Super Low's, would be sweet. Your better off saving up to do the whole lot at once, is the best way.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I agree, don't chop your springs, not only is it illegal but they are down right dangerous, get proper springs for your car!

yeah i knew it was pretty dodgy, thats why i was a bit skeptical. So do you reckon its worth just buying springs (around $500-600 fitted was the idea i got) and not worrying bout the shocks till later? how much is the adverage price going for super low springs and shocks fitted? anyone with recent prices?

wtf man, i will fit your springs for 500 - 600
i can get supers for roughly 105 a pair from what im told could be wrong and fitting em couldn't take anymore than like 2 hrs
500-600 i would have thought would be like a whole arse end getting done shocks springs labour
correct me peoples

true ay? i called up pedders a coulpa weeks ago and the bloke reckoned it'd be something like 550 for all for springs fitted. but it was only a drop of 2 inches. i was thinking more like 2.5 front and 3 back. what do ya reckon? cos if i can get away without having to fit new shocks that'd save me some $$. do ya have to have new shocks to match your lowered springs? i dunno much bout this sorta stuff..

depends what u want, and a drop of 2 inches is fair hold it next to your car it is a bit
i would recommend replacing your shocks they are prolly the original onces and your car is prolly similar to a boat on water when u push the boot down
if u lower your rid u can more easily bottom out your shocks.
just get professional advice or wait till some guys who have done this stuff can recommend it
also just search lowering
should ge tplenty of results

Man thats expensive, I'm not going to bag Pedder's. Do yourself a favor and ring around other suspension places for prices before you commit without knowing what other places can do. Ask somebody in the know for a recomendation or something.

Well I'm not going to either bag or recommend any places, cause its just not cricket. However a set of front King Super lows is in the order of $120 and rears $100. Basically find a suspension place that dosen't do dodgy work but has a reasonable price (there are plenty) and go with it I'd say $350 add or take 10% suppied and fitted which should including a front wheel alignment as tow will need to be adjusted.
