I'm looking at buying a new car as i sold my VLT today. I'm after something that is fairly economical with some power at the same time. I want a car with newer safety features, for example, ABS + airbags. I've been thinking about a VR or a VS berlina, acclaim, bt1 or calias maybe on dual fuel. How do the VR/VS go on petrol? City consumption is said to be better than a VL on the highway, but it seems a little optimistic to me. 11.2L/100km city and 7.2L/100km for highway, that's for a VS. I've heard teh VS ecotec engines are much better than the old VR V6's, running quieter, smoother and more fuel effiecent. Anyone got any comments or suggestions?

Well, mates VR engine looks old and crusty, VS looks a lot neater thats for sure. I think they're a lot more economic! My VS Berlina is great, all the electrics etc..

Of course, it depends on personal preference as to which model you choose. Although the VR was an earlier model, it was a huge improvement over the VP, especially with regard to availability of drivers airbag, ABS, IRS and improved supension and body rigidity. VR Acclaims are very good. However, the VS brought more computing power, and the engine was almost totally new, with shorter block, free flowing heads and improved EFI. The VS also brought with it a passengers side airbag. There was also a marginal increase in power output from the VR V6 130kw.

i wouldnt go for a vr v6 because the engines are the same as the vn's, they tend to clap out pretty easy, the vs ecotech's are wicked, good on fuel and good smooth engine
