Okay guys, it's been a long time in the making, but i've finally finished my supercharger setup for my VL. The pictures below are a little big, so 56k people beware! okay i resized them so dialup people don't die waiting for them to load. the blower is driven off a 160mm diameter pulley mounted on a custom spacer on the crank. the spacer was made up by a machine shop and bolts straight to the power steering pulley. this means that you can run this blower wtih power steering and air-con if you wish. also you may notice that the stock thermofan has been replaced by a 16 inch davies, craig electronic thermofan to clear the pulley. the bottom mount allows the blower to rotate, to accomodate for torque roll of the engine. the wastegate is a 32mm garrett item, with a modified spring rate to suit the blower. it provides a full-venting bypass system at idle (all the blower's pressure is vented) but as soon as you put your foot down the poppet valve closes and gives full downstream boost. this system also provides fully proportional throttle response, so i can drive the car around without ever seeing positive boost, until of course, i put my foot down. at the moment it is air-vented, and let me tell you it is quite loud! sounds a lot like a blowoff valve when you release the throttle, but the loud hissing noise continues as long as revs remain high but throttle is closed. for example decelerating at 60km/h in 2nd gear, the blowoff noise continues until about 2000rpm where it becomes less noticeable. this picture doesn't show it very well, but the gate comes off the bottom of the outlet pipe, near the extractors which you can just see. it is vented backwards towards the rear of the car. as of right now, it pushes 4psi max, but i know that i have a few boost leaks in the piping which will be fixed in the next few days. also soon to come is a water/meth sprayer located before the blower to provide cooling and a bit of protection against detonation. many thanks must go to Tony (Warpspeed) who has helped me the whole way through this build, his advice and endless knowledge on the SC-14 blower has been invaluable, without him this would never have been possible. let it suffice to say that on 4 pounds, with timing extremely retarded at 12-odd degrees BTDC to protect the engine until it's tuned properly and no water/meth injection, the car hauls a significant amount of ass. the sound of the blower is absolutely unreal, but i really need to pipe that wastegate back into the inlet, it's just far too loud when you back off the throttle. here's one last shot of the engine bay, shows you where the inlet piping goes as well. also i have a small video with poor quality sound of the engine running, you get the general idea, if anyone can host it, add me to your msn at [email removed] and i'll send it to you. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

sorry about the size lads, i'm trying to get into photobucket to upload smaller ones but it won't let me at the moment. have to fix that piping problem, should be done early next week. right now she just doesn't want to idle, but at full throttle it makes some funny noises!

she's not running right yet, tomorrow i'll go get some more 3 inch radiator hose and fix that pipe problem up. then it should be fine..... just need to make a splash guard for the pod filter and get the water/meth sprayer sited. then i can tune it, ramp up the timing a bit and i have a feeling it will go a bit quicker.....

haha scared? me? see everything in those pics? i did that on a little bench without a vice, using a hand drill and an angle grinder, working from scratch designing and creating a complete blower drive and mount setup. NOW THATS SCARY!!!

haha andy the water/meth is already set up, everything on it works perfectly i just haven't sited the nozzle in the blower inlet yet. on19s: there was a large hole there already for the cold air induction pipe, but it was in the wrong place so i gently enlarged it with a 9 inch angle grinder. subtle, no? glenn: i'll have to come down to the BWCP one night yeah, when it's running properly. going to re-site that idle control hose tomorrow so it should be fine by then. duz360: yeah i should, been thinking about colours..... yellow maybe? with a calaisturbo.com.au sticker on the top mount?
