Yeah I driven a few of em at work. 2.0L turbo goes mad hard! can barely hear it though. I came out of a turn, in first, gettin up the revs, got to about 4500 and punched it, it smoked up, ****en brilliant, I had a huge smile. The front mount position is good, and seems you can replace with a massive one very easily. All the pipes are plastic (to and from turbo and cooler), and when the vacuum gets too strong they close (like when you take the spring out of intake pipe). You may think this is stupid, but it kinda replaces the wastegate. Wastegateless Turbo so I'm told, even though I think I remember seeing the actuator (could be confused).. anyways, awesome car! 147kw! got some heat on the VLT!

I have owned an Astra SRi Turbo Hatch for just over a year now and use it as my daily driver. My two VL's don't get much use anymore as the Astra is an all round better package to drive day to day. (Keep in mind that my two VL's are the HDT and HSV Turbo versions). Along with the Astra SRi Turbo winning Best Bang for Your Bucks last year, Holden entered one in the Targa Tassie and it won it's class and finished 13th outright. It was the second unmodified car to cross the finish line (first was WRX STi) and had the least power, torque and price tag of any car in the top 20 finishers. I have had mine out at a driver training day run by the HSV owners club when the car was fairly new and most people there didn't know what i was driving or why i didn't have a VL there. At the end of the day they all knew what the Astra was capable of. I guarantee neither of my VL's would have come close to matching it's performance in those conditions. To answer the question over the Wastegate, here is some quotes from the dealer info package for these cars. "The exhaust manifold, turbine housing, waste gate and other components are integrated as a single, compact unit allowing the turbo to be efficiently packaged with the 2.0 litre engine." "A latest-generation computer system is responsible for overall engine management. Among other things, it controls the boost pressure, using a wastegate and rotary valve, which are also integrated in the turbocharger." I see the car as being a modern day VL turbo replacement considering that the car has similar power, weight and dimensions with all the years worth of improvements added in along the way. I still will always own a VL or two though. Corsa Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Yeah I didn't believe the wastegateless thing, cos I'm dead sure I saw a wastegate actuator. The bloke at Holden College wouldn't let me beleive it though.

Just think about the price of the current Commodore SV8 model's pricing. The Astra was cheap enough to win the Bang for Your Bucks competition last year. Corsa

my mums has a convertibal astra turbo.. it goes .. alrigt, pretty well for a stocker going around any slight corner if u boot it in first when boost comes both wheels will light up. yeh they run 12 psi stock but it doesnt feel like it, u can hardly feel the boost come on at all.biggest let down is FWD.. i hate it.

they are like 36k. there is almost no lag, which is why its hard to notice.. but the power is hell noticable over the fact that the stock 1.8L is 98kw or so. A stock 2L would be around 102kw I'd say, as the 2.2L is 108kw... ..I've gone cross-eyed.
