Hey, a friend of mine "Vas"has a vl turbo with 200rwkw. His gearbox is rooted and he has a spare n/a gearbox and wants to make it strong enough to be put into his vl turbo. He wants to know what he can do to it with $500.
Thanks
not really possible mate.
hes better off saving and getting the vlt auto rebuilt.
500 would probly just get you a stall converter. And the n/a auto's arent able to be built strong, different to the turbo auto.
for 500 dollars and a 200rwkw car hes better buying a jig saw, cutting out the floor pan and doing a fred flinstone till he saves more money.
best bet is to PM transman (keas) on these forums, he will lead you in the right direction

not quite true greg, they sure are! all the ways in which the turbo autos are different are changed/altered/fixed when it gets rebuilt to handle large power (or should be). that's what paul does anyway. input shafts, bands, valve bodies, all are modified/changed to handle more power.
if he can get a 2nd hand strengthened one, get it so long as he knows it's fine. if he's putting 200+kw through it, he needs a rebuilt one anyway. just send off his n/a box to paul keas and in a few days he can have a rebuilt box. note that it is going to cost 2 grand though.....
