sat in a VT the other day and instantly realised how much more comfortable it is than the VL, so was wondering if holden have made the stud patterens for the seats a standard thing or not? id only be looking at the drivers seat, and possibly the passengers the only times im in back im not usually sitting up, nor am i concerned about how comfortable i am Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

does anyone know the legalities concerning this? sounds great, plus the VT seats would already meet ADR....so is it legal?

your rails , or mods to rails will have to be engineered to be legal

just get VR/VS statesman/calais/caprice seats, you can bolt the VL S2 rails straight onto them and then they bolt traight in. heres some VR statesman velour seats in my old VL:

as natho said - any vn - vs seat can be bolted to vl rails - its the exact same setup as vl seats so no engineering would be needed.

He also said to be sure and use high tensile bolts, but that I did not need approval....

if you bolted say VS calais or statesman seats in with the electronic adjustment and put the VL rails on would you lose the electronics or do they work independent of the rails?

natho - Can the rear seats from a VR Statesman/Caprice be installed as easily as the fronts?

i didnt try it but if you take a look at them its pretty obvious they are different - there are 3 parts to the backrest of the rear seat in a VR/VS, and the mounts for everything are in slightly different places. best to get a VL one retrimmed to suit, or have the VR/VS one modified to suit. i dont know what it would cost or who would do it but i've heard of it being done.

Ahh I see. I just thought it would look a bit weird having a front pair of Statesman VR/VS seats and the rear VL Calais seats. Are there any known rear seats that simply slot into place?

esprit - none will just slot in. maybe get yourself a stock vr eec rear seat, and have a play around with the frames underneath, ad the mounts. It has been done plenty of times.

it was a while ago i did it but i think it cost me $300 for the seats and i had them shampoed for $20 or something. VL s1 rails are heaps different, same as VB-VK and don't unbolt from the seat like the VL S2.

Can you do a rail conversion from series 1 to series 2 rails?
