there is a 3.08 lsd with discs for sale for $650 which seems a decent price. its out a of a vh so i have a couple of questions. is that ratio too low for a 3 litre na vl and will the diff fit the car properly? thanx

It will bolt in, but it will not suit the tailshaft. The gear ratio will not suit either, the N/A doesn't have the torque for such a low diff ratio. It's not worth it.

Yes it is. I have a 3.08 in my VL atm (Changing to 3.45 on monday) and it's not too bad but performance is noticeably down.

The vh diff is a salisbury unit vs the BTR 78 unit in very late vk's and in the vl. The salsbury unit is a pos, dont touch it, it is shorter and has really weak internals, to fit it into a vl you would also need to change the rear half of your tailshaft to a vh unit.
