G'day fellas, just wondering if there's a decent guy/workshop in Bris or the Gold Coast who are VLT specialists... I keep ringing around and mentioning the probs I have with my car, and each time I get a different answer.. "Yeah mate it's the gearbox", or "Yeah sounds like the engine is gone". I think I just need someone with specialist experience to take a look. BTW, my problem is the VL revs its guts off and boosts up, but just doesn't go anywhere - so I'm guessing could be gearbox/stally/diff/engine/turbo leak or busted turbo. Just need someone to diagnose and fix the prob rather than replacing all these parts unnecessarily! Cheers, Bozza.

clutch/or auto box slipping? Avoid Brisbane Turbo and Tuning. Heard good things about APC @ Underwood. Why are you especially after specialist VLT experience? A decent mechanic should be able to help you out with that. If you don't know of any, and I see your from the GC though, but give my mech a call - Gary Munro @ Alderley Automotive. He's an older bloke, won't jack you around and is a pleasure to deal with. Cheers, Steve.

i had a problem with my gbox , but it was valve body related. not quite the problem ur having. though i dare say it is gbox related for u. can u hear the whining noise the box makes when its flaring/slipping

OK guys cheers. I'm really just after someone with turbo/VL experience behind them... So they can put their finger on the problem without too much fuss. Gonna check tightness of front and rear bands, and check vacuum diaphram/valve tomorrow. If that's not the case, I'm gonna pull out the 3000rpm stall and put in my old 2500rpm, see if that makes a difference... Also been recommended to Bayside Performace and Mechanical at Capalaba, heard much about them?

See Mike Vine Turbocharging he has very good VLT experience.

mike vine is good with engine and building engine , moreso than gbox's he is very very smart though i know bayside quite well too

Hey osk, I was speaking to Bayside and they mentioned your car... I think I was talking to Mark - It was definalty someone who knew his stuff. Have spoken to Mike Vine... he recommended Bob Grant in Cooparoo for my gearbox stuff. Looks like I know who to talk to now! Thanks guys.

Could someone recommend somewhere to go to have the exhaust housing removed and some broken studs in the housing removed also?

I just got some quotes for a job i need doing, exotic were the least helpful and most expensive. that's just my experience with them. I've also previously dealt with them but their quote last time was too expensive also... Carline at jindalee would be my pick for that job...decent fella's decent prices. Jay

THanks guys I ended up just taking it down to Subzero and should have it back by the end of the week, looks like its costing me 70 - 80 for them to remove 5 broken studs, ntb.. Ill keep Ashmore exhaust in mind for when its time to bolt all this turbo gear on, I need someone to make up exhaust from dump to cat Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

So subzero are pretty good price wise? I just live down the road from them, might go to them or sure stop in nerang for a tune up, as the beast isn't going at 100%. BTW, how does $400-$500 sound for all piping and joins done for a 600x300 cooler? (price includes install of cooler and pipes - i just supply the cooler) Reckon that's a good price?? Cheers.
