Hey ppls, just wondering if any of you know what the top speed reachable in a VL is?
Are they speed limited, EG: at 190km/h or anything?
I'm mainly refering to a VL Berlina Wagon (3ltr Non Trubo).
But i'd think all 3 litres would be the same, wouldn't they?
Thanks, Paul.
it's all about the gearing, diff, auto or manual, and also the power range of your cam(s), there are alot of factors determining this, I suggest you go on out to your local "legal" drag strip and take it down the quarter, see how fast you can get it!!!!
anyway, why do you want to know this, get caught doing this speed by the cops and say goodbye to your license and to your savings!!
LOL mine was off the dial, around 220ish, and hit the limiter.
She doesn't go any faster, just gotta get their quicker
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
yeah im a new zealand bunny and ive had mine dead on 200 that was about it. 190 in 4th gear 5500rpm then into 5th. but 200 seemed to be about it didnt feel like it wanted to go any faster.
you are all ****ing crazy, i reckon vls are the worst cars at high speeds unless u have really good suspension shocks etc, they get a slight wobble when ur going that fast and say goodbye to ur life.
but those are some fair speeds hopefully u were all by urself in the car it would suck to take a friend with ya if ya crashed
i also hope thats 215 km/h not 315 km/h
my n/a's steering is bad enough at around 120 but up to around 140 i reckon it gets better (somehow), i got to 160 fairly easily so i think i'll just assume it wil make 200 like everyone else has said. By nxt year ill hopefully hav sum 3.9s in the back and then i'll c how much she can make, lol, not that it'll b of n e use to me.
as far as i know there is no speed limiter, and i hav also been told they dont hav fuel cut either, gee im glad vls they didnt invest in that lovely restrictive technology (cos its old).
holden man i'de say with under half a tank a clean vl auto wagon should make 200 aswell.
one last thing:
why is it that sum people hav top speeds wen they're low in 5th, cos if you were to overrev 4th you should b able to shift high enough into 5th to get sum kind of acceleration out of the car = higher speeds, i'de assume that any good car's speed is only limited by gear ratios
gear and diff gears yeah, its already been said theres alot of factors, hell even a breeze from behind would help a fair bit.. only reason i stopped was because it was getting a bit sketchy.. 160 is an easy speed to get too.. anything after that im not a fan off.. done it once and i don't think i'd do it again unless i had closed circuit conditions..
Couple of weeks ago me and 4 mates are heading out to a party. I was designated driver and where just leaving a mates house when one of my mates gets a call from his mum saying his baby sister is in hospital with suspected miniga****le (spelling) and to get their as soon as possible. As it turned out his sister did have meniga****le. But anyway i needless to say canned it the whole way to the hospital. Along the freeway my speedo was reading 195km/h but my speedo is out by 10 so i was doing close to 210km/h.
Bout the only time i have really gone really fast. Don't get anything out of it. Damm stupid and way too risky to get caught by the cops or have an accident. Thankfully noone was on the freeway when i did this.
Car is very stable at these speeds but due to the $2500 i spent on the suspension
