Gday guys and girls I just picked up and adjustable panhard rod and i was wondering, is it possible for me to install it myself, or is it a job for the local tyre power pro? At the moment, my diff is shifted to the left side - passenger side of the car (i think). Would this mean i tighten or loosen the bolts? Also, does the rod sit with the adjusting bolts at the lower side of the rod or at the higher side of the rod (right side) ? cheers steve

It is a very easy job for you to do yourself. Jack up the car and put it on jackstands at the back, and then support the diff with a trolley jack. Then just take the old panhard rod off. The bushes at either end are different sizes and the panhard rod should only fit one way. When you install it, you should be able to see how changing the height of the suspension will change the orientation of the diff. I think the rod would need to be shorter for lower suspension.

You dont even have to jack your car up, you can do it on the ground working from the sides though the rear of the gaurds!

just installed one of these on my calais...very easy to do...as jordy said it will need to be shorter for lower suspension...well this was the case with mine...i hit a gutter a couple of months ago which bent the left axle and bent the crap outta the panhard mount pushing the whole arse end out by about an inch which caused my new 17 inch wheels to scrub on the drivers side...grabbed a adjustable from Fulcrum at Stafford in Brisbane ($155 for it) and now all is good...sits like it was before...if you have any troubles with it bro give us a PM and i'll explain anything that ya have a problem with...anyhow good luck and watch out for those gutters...

thans heaps guys! i just put it in and it was easy! took about half an hour. however, i have noticed two cracks in the main rail going across the back of the car, sort of above the panahard rod :-/ the cracks arent big (about 70mm long and less than 1mm wide) and i think they may have been caused by the diff being shifted. Arh well, thats the next thing to do on the list. Thanx again!
