Just got back from my holiday up far north Queensland, great holiday and weather is fantastic for winter only a cool 25 degrees most days.
Did just about all the touristy ****.
Arrived back to depressing Melbourne weather a freezing 12 degrees.
Bit disappointed did'nt see any VLT's up Cairns way, Are there any at all?, I only saw 2 good cars and they were a red 57 chevy and a blue 69 camaro, nothing else up there that caught my eye.
I was tempted to call in a visit Ray Hall turbos in Cairns but unfortunately did'nt have the time, wanted to check prices of stuff out compared to Melbourne prices in real life. Not over emails.
Looks like Victoria is the VLT capital, I see VLT's every single day in the traffic.
Yeah I enjoyed my holiday top spot alot better than south queensland. ie Gold Coast.
I like the warmer weather and the "Reef".
I hired a Toyota corolla and drove around went up as far as Cape Tribulation and as far south as Tully and the Mission beach area. And did all the usual touristy things to do.
All told did 1,500km and only used $60 worth of fuel with me constantly thrashing that little terd box. could'nt do any burnouts even on loose gravel, ended up ripping the handbrake up around the backblocks in the cane farms to get my thrills missing my cars it's sad.
One thing I noticed is fuel is so much cheaper than Melbourne it averages 89.9 compared to Melbournes 105.3, And the fact you guys up there don't have water restrictions like our wet state Vic?. It does'nt make sense to me we have rain just about every day now at this time of year but still have water restrictions and you would think fuel would be cheaper than far north queensland with the freight charge.
I would'nt mind moving up that way but family is all based in Vic.
unfortunately it's back to work again, And I must finish off that project "Blue Jet" that I have stashed away in the corner of my garage, I'm sick at looking at it and my mate wants his car back after a year and a half since I've had it. .

Oh yeah.. Cairns has its fair share of VLT's... quite the amount actually...
Im the proud owner of one of them, theres a few Calais Turbo's a few Berlina Turbo's and a few N/A Conversions...
A few BT1 look alikes, dont know if they are BT1's or just exec's and SL's done up as a BT1..
More guys up here seem to go the stroked/blown V8 approach.. with no power to weight restrictions, and relatively slack cops, why not..
But yes. VL Turbo's are around, you just need to know where to look.
EDIT: Ps. Im originally from VIC, hence the VLT with chasers, venetions etc... I thought the same when I first got here.. I was a bit worried about these boys... but glad at the sametime because I thought I was the only VLT driver here... Seems I was wrong! Very wrong.

there r a few vl turbos in cairns
off the top of my head i can think of, white obva silver calais with HUGE front mount, bt1 with intercooler goin from 1 side of the car 2 the other (lol its huge) a black 5spd ct, purple 5 spd ct, white ct, red sl turbo, dark blue auto ct, red executive 5 spd turbo... most guys up here r into v8 and v8 forced induction... ive got 2 mates with twin turbo v8s, 1s a VT GTS and the other is a CVR8 monaro
Yeah, im keen for a meet... If my diff is fixed by then.
Who do u guys get your dynos and tuning done by?
I spoke to Ray Hall, and he was a prick on the phone.
Thinking either Cape York Automotive or Lee Holman?
i would say leigh holman, his crew knows wat they r doin... there has been some very nice cars come from there, have u seen his xr6 turbo... its off its nutts, 390 rwkw
where's lee holeman at? SVS yeah? If thats the guy im thinking of then he's a ****... The guy at Special Vehicle Services told me that to change my boost from 6psi to 10psi I'd need a new ECU... I.D.I.O.T.
Id hate to say it, but although Ray Hall is a prick to talk to, **** does he do a good job...
