Hey guys, I have a 5.0L VL with current fuel prices (high 90's) and me only earning around $100 a week (i'm still a student) I am thinking and planning on gas, my only questions are as follows: 1) Is it better get a twin system (petrol/gas) or go for a straight gas system? 2) What size tank should i get for the gas? 3a) If i'm running straight gas will i notice any power loss? If so can i tune the engine so there is no power loss? 3b) If i'm running duel fuel will i notice any power loss? If so can i tune the engine so there is no power loss? 4) Will the car still start as sweet as it is now if i convert it to straight gas on cold mornings? 5) How much would it cost to get it put on straight gas and how much would it be to get it put on duel fuel? Thanks guys, i know this thread has probably been done to death but i quickly searched and found nothing of the like, i'll continue to search though.

1. It's personal preference - just don't run out of Gas if you don't have the Petrol backup... but without the Petrol, you can remove the tank, the pump and the pollution gear! 2. You should be able to fit say a 90 litre tank behind the rear seat, that will hold around 75-80 litres due to the float inside allowing for expansion, but these things can be modified. 3a and b. You can only tune the car for running either fuel, not both. LPG is a very different fuel to Petrol. If you build an engine specifically for LPG and have the right setup you will achieve very good results, I recommend the GRA twin throttle body setup, I've had it and it works! 4. LPG cars always need a little cranking to start from cold, but you can install a primer on the convertor/s to help with this. 5. Depends on the setup, GRA is quite expensive, but it's not just a "taxi" setup, it works very well and is very tunable. You can buy a standard setup and have dual fuel too of course but the power results will be crap - it's up to you and your hip pocket! hope this helps..... check out Gas Research's website for more info. www.gasresearch.com.au (http://www.gasresearch.com.au)

Yep, like ITSGMH said go straight gas, it's better than unleaded (octane) anyway. I could only squeeze a 56odd litre usable tank under the parcel shelf in my VL. In a setup made only for LPG, it will make more power than when running unleaded, but will consume more gas per distance travelled than petrol. The initial layout for a gas setup is expensive, too do properly!

What do ya fellas recommend for a na vl which i may possibly convert to dual fuel. Not worried about power as long as it runs fine etc....? Probably too many downsides to it so I probably wont bother. Its just im picking up a complete vl that runs dual fuel for 500 bux Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Go one or the other!, thats the only way to reliable power and reliabilty in one. But on the other hand for $500 whats it matter how it goes?

Thanks for the help. I would defiantly go straight gas, not duel, if i decided to change. Once it's on gas and tuned properly would it be much cheaper than running it on petrol? Petrol is around mid-high 90's and gas is high 30's-low 40's...
