nissan are the best of the basic line, and will do for most applications. i hear Cometic ones are pretty badass but you pay for it. maybe get one if you are going to be running heaps of boost?
Nissan are the best out of the generic fibre gaskets but if you are half serious, there is absolutely no substitute for a multi-layer metal gasket (NOT copper). The only step better than that is to use brass sealing rings or coopers rings, the latter of which are way out of the realm of a street car. The ultimate I guess is a monoblock - no gasket!
sorry to bring up an old thread, but i would have to thank kyle 6BOOST for giving me the idea of a cometic gasket
Luke - i have found out that you can get them in different thickness, but what is the thickness of the genuine gasket ?
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
I'm a fan of the genuine gasket too, but when getting really serious and fitting o-rings what is best then, metal shim, copper or genuine??? I've heard copper are good as a receving groove is machined into the head and the gasket squashes into it making a perfect stepped seal. How does a metal shim go with o-rings??

I have an O ringed block in one of my cars (4 cyl) that uses a multi layer metal gasket. It holds 24 psi fine.
My RB30 has a Tomei head gasket with no O rings, but that is yet to be run.
i would usually go genuine bt since this will be for a na conversion, looks like i will go the cometic one as they come in different thickness.
i just want to drop the comp of my na engine just a little bit before i go to far with the rest.
i use a std Nissan gasket with 26 psi boost, no O-rings either, if u dont rattle the motor a std gasket will put up with a lot of HP.
yes there are better gaskets out there, but if you dont need a better one, why pay more.
