Hi, been wanting to do this for ages now but haven't had the chance to get any pics together... here are a few I took today. My calais came out of the factory an auto but she is now a MX7 5 speed. OK I bought my car in 1999 and it was already a fast unit set at 14 psi with a VDO water injection setup to keep temps down, impressed with the performance and look I bought it, and with only 100,000 k's on the clock figured it was a good buy back then for $13,000. Soon after the purchase it was obvious the trans was on its way out and rust was coming through the respray around front and back windscreens. Thankfully I have a mate who is an excellent panel beater and 4 years later not a spec of rust has returned... this was about a $1200 job. Next was the auto trans which packed it in so had a stock rebuild done with a cooler for around $2000. Since then mechanically everything was A1 and the body straight as. In 2003 I decided I wanted a manual so I bought another VL turbo, a Berlina and proceded to do the transplant. I relied on my panelbeater mate to help me out so the project was a lot longer than one had hoped but a year later I gone from a VL Calais Auto, to a manual MX7, with LSD, Momo steering wheel and Simmons 15 inch B45's (which I'm trying to sell still). Anyway there is way too much to write in here as the list goes on and on.. but future plans are to get intercooler, two way electric sunroof and eventually a full respray in a colour I have not yet decided on. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Now other specs of the car are: Suspension: Lowered professionally 2 inches with K Mac springs and Koni adjustable shocks front and rear. K Mac camber/caster kit on front. Pedders adjustable panhard rod. Wheels and Tyres: As you can see they are fully polished Simmons FR18's x 8s with Toyo tyres. Audio: Kenwood MP3 player with Alpine 150W splits in the front mounted in the pods I made for the doors and the tweeter is where the factory speakers go. 220W 3 way 6x9s in the rear custom parcel shelf, in the boot is a USA Audio 600w amp 4x55w rms which feed front and rear speakers. I've considered a Sub but at this stage I'll leave that alone. All work has been done by myself which has saved a lot of labour costs. Exhaust: 3 inch from back of turbo with hi flow cat, mild steel mandrel with stainless steel muffler and tip at rear, had it done by Exhaust Technology who were the best out of about 4 different hi performance places I enquired at. VDO Boost gauge mount by myself in the blank plate left of steering column. 2 stage Turbo smart boost controller, not yet connected at waste gate, will be done when intercooler is installed probably will set low boost at 9 and high at 15 psi.
