all you guys with auto's only get out there and drive them like manuals anyway, so why dont you give your left leg something to do and get a manual! unless your a devoted drager with no intrest in driving on public roads manuals and the only choice.

i love driving around in my girlfriends little red corolla 5 spd. i reckon just workin through the gears is fun and not to mention the fact that you can over rev it and get more out of each gear, then slamm it into the next gear... its just so much more fun to drive than an auto VL. I know the first thing im doing to the calais that im buying, chucking a 5psd manual in it... i think its just me but when im driving an auto, after a while, it does get boring but on the other hand, if i was looking for pure launching power, with an engine that puts out 300wrkw, then i would go for the auto, but i want something thats quick off the line (when done properley) and something thats a treat to drive in the end it comes down to driver preference and style, but i would go a manual over an auto ANYDAY Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

If you can find me a manual driver who can shift well enuff not to lose a single pound of boost between gear changes, ill stick a manual back in the car hehe - nah in all seriousness - its all about personal preferance, with that I agree. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

1 to your own. manual for me when i thrash my car but i dont have horsey power like some of u auto guys. i guess if u got over 300 heading for 400 hp u want both hands on the wheel and ure preety serious about speed if your gonna spend the money to get the car producing those figures so i f i had a phat beast with over 300 id be lookin towards an auto but i must admit when i had my n/a vl auto when i used to hop into my everyday run around car which was a little crappy datsun sunny man it was fun cause u would rev the **** out of it and think u were goin fast. yeah my 2 cents.

I had my auto calais changed to manual, thinking for few reasons it would b better, ie for me to drive, re sale, but after about a yr with it, i do believe id b just as happy with a quik auto, cuz the **** that can go wrong with ya manuals, clutches, tail shafts, gearbox, bearings, fudge it i reckon, next car i dont care what it is, but if i do get auto its gotta b a quik one for starters... theres my opinion, thank u, thank u Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Clutches and boxes only stuff up if u don't know how to drive. There's nothing u can stuff up when driving an auto, it's all done for you... Manuals are cheaper to repair anyway and much more DIY friendly, with an auto u just replace the whole box if anything major happends.

I've driven an auto N/A VL, a turbo auto VL that has been manualised, an auto V8 VT. I have a N/A 5 speed VL and i still think that the manual is soo much better. More interesting when racing, doing a skid (a tad harder then the auto), and just general thrashing around... Just the feeling of being on the highway, drop to 3rd and just stomp it! Someone mentioned that having a turbo with a manual box is bad. Well my mate's AUTO turbo raced a manual turbo and the manual won. The manual didnt lose anything during gear changes, if anything only made it better.... The 2 cars were quite similar in modifications... Same boost i think it was But manuals are lighter, go faster, cheaper, use less fuel, require less maintenance (unless ur constantly blowing clutches), more fun. And also, just having a MANUAL VL is cooler then an auto

hey fellas just thought idd add a vlt with 300rwkw will take a while to spool even in an auto like a few seconds at least if u dont stall it off the lights for long enough it will take off very very slow and get choped by a just about anything until u come on to boost and wheel spin for 120metres my car is manual with a big turbo 1.00rear i can still take off hard in it just have to fan the clutch a little not good for the clutch tho lol first and second it wheelspins and if i dont change third to hard it gets traction and im off a big hp auto has huge lag on the street a manual u can sidestep and ur on boost straight away it is personal opinion tho thats just my 2 cents as well cheers brendan(HIIPSI) Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Only reason that there isnt any 10 sec VL that is manual cause that Auto can change gears quicker then manual can how much power would you lose having a Auto with teh different ratios?? i know of a WRX running a Manual air shifted box just flicks a series of switches i think it duz mid to high 10's or 9's i cant remember. i love manuals just the feel u have control over your engine and car like i know u can still lose it and all but i seen to many Auto cars tromp it fish tail and nearly lose it and have 2 skid. manual u can always push that clutch in u know what i mean. also wat i wanted to know is i thought a stally kept the revs at a certain set like 3500 rpm but how do you dump it? like i havent driven a car with a stally or manulised Auto. do u dump from N to D ?? like is there a clutch or somthin.

I've had a manual and auto VLT and they are both better/superior to each other in different ways.. *Manual* - great fun to drive, you really feel like you are 'driving' the car. Also ultra responsive compared to an auto. However manuals suck trying to hook up off the line, and you will have to know how to drive to stick with an auto in a drag. Also with big HP clutches become a problem too. *Auto* - EASY to drive, you can cruise around off boost all day long if you want. They hook up well for draging, etc. Auto's (if built well) also feel really tough compared to manuals, you don't hace to worry about breaking your 'box on big launches. Plus once an auto hits boost you can slap through the gears right in the same rev range - no lag!! Auto's are boring tho in terms of driver involvement and generally use more fuel than than a manual equivalent. At the end of the day I think I prefer an auto in a VLT. Don't get me wrong I hated auto's until I got a VLT. But to get the power to the ground with high boost in a VL a manual just can't cut the mustard IMO. In saying that a lot of that has to do with suspension setup an tyres as well, but the live axle set up makes traction difficult with a manual. Cheers.

my mate has a VL its auto and when he takes off it spins and when it duz burnouts 1 wheel lights up and he goes off in a str8 line. My VL turbo calais as soon as i let the clutch out and im reving it like just say 5000rpm 2 do a burnout as soon as i dump it the back end goes sidewayz from a standing still posistion and i gotta ease the clutch in to stop it from doing it. i know my car is my Powerfull then his NA VL but would this be because of suspension setup or Could i have a LSD i check the Comp plate and it says its the single spinner but i cannot hold my car in a str8 line doing a hard take of at all unless its lower revs. seems to kick to the left. my mates just hammer str8 all the time
