Hey all. I have a open-wheeler behind my VL turbo manual which gives me the ****s cause its hard to get the traciton down. So which diff, LSD or spool, would people recommend for track use and a bit of daily driving? I'm not really worried about legality.......

i think everyone will tell you to get a tight LSD but personally i'd go a spool. love the predictability, and awesome traction off the line of a minispool.

Mostly local sprints. But I'd like to go to Morgan park and Queensland raceway to contest V8 Supercar times. Bwahaha!! Not likely! Every one should have dreams
This car will be driven to and from the events (and uni) thats why it needs to be drivable.

A minispool is fine for track work, as is a tight LSD, if you go the LSD way, get it set up with 200 - 300 lb load springs. then it wont slip all the time and burn up.

Does cost become a factor in this?
Jet-6 Minispool for ~$150 + seals and oil. - Guranteed always 2 lines worth of rubber but a bit of a hard drive around town and when reverse parking etc.
LSD Rebuild using an existing LSD Diff, which you need to buy (~700 for a turbo one) + rebuild ($500-700) etc.
So its really $200 minispool and $1200 LSD.

Well I did some looking around and I can get a rebuilt LSD, shimed and ready to put in for around $500 form the local diff and gearbox place. Thats to standard spec. I'll have to see the cost of putting heavier springs in.
Spose I could always put a spool in considering they are cheap and if it packs itself in I upgrade to LSD.....food for thought
