heh i was walkin home yesterday and there is a auto VL parked near my house andi was having a bit of a look and i noticed that where u pull the little bit up on the t-bar between that and the top of the bar he had a big padlock so that unless u were a tricky bugger u couldnt take it out of park

Easy to get around. The bottom section can be pushed down easily and the shifter moved

once u pull the bottom section down though isnt there a little ring u still have to pull up and if u get a padlock that fits around the bar then they shouldnt be able to get the ring up thru the lock

the top just pops off too

i got a chunky big padlock - about the size of a pack of ciggys.
If someone really wants to steal your car a padlock want stop them, but anyone just mucking around will bugger of quickly

Its a good cheap fix - a deterrent at least.
You can also buy these 'clublock' style things that go over your gearknob and clamp onto the steering wheel.

probably a silly thing to do, it would actually give the theif leverage to knock it downwards , then stick in a flathead and slam the shifter into gear as said above.
the best deterrent but not practical would be a dog that lives permanently in the back.
here rex, lol

it's useless, no point using it - the padlock that is.

15-06-04, 17:09 GMT+10#13 best way i have noticed is to follow these simple steps only works with auto.
1) get a clublock (or them new style ones prolock)
2) place it on you centre console between the hand break and auto stick
3) adjust to size when auto is in park and place the u shape round the gear stickand the other end in the closest point of were the hand break meets the console. so the hand break leaver goes into the u shape.
4) presto ya cant move the auto trans outta park and cant put the hand break down.
also what ya can do is pop the bonnet and pull the lil lead that gose to the dizzy out and slip it near the airbox or near the batterey.

15-06-04, 18:52 GMT+10#16 if i was to take out the ignition fuse will that turn off my immobiliser? cos it would be an easy thing to do wen i leave the car sumwhere, most poieple probably wont think of it, but i wanna hav that light flashing still cos its bright enough to keep nyone away from the car.
yeh, so if sum1 gets past the immobilizer it still wont wind.

15-06-04, 21:58 GMT+10#17 They are all good idea's.
But if your not lazy just take your fuel pump relay out.
As if a thief will be like "luckily I brought my VL Fuel Pump relay with me!"
Maybe its a fuse, I can't remember.
But yeah, they might start it, but they won't get far.

There's plenty of other relays in there to replace it
