3rd thread for today, i'm on fire... anyway, had no idea where to put this so i'll put it here... is there any quick way to take off home made tinted window jobs? Car i bought has HORRIBLE tinted windows (the sticker ones) and i'm wondering how to get them off? Would metholated spirits work? It's like there's a sticker but it's impossible to peel it off... Thanks

Off to Tint-a-Car: it can't be that expensive......... Or give them a call: tell them you're "going to get your car tinted afterwards", then ask for advice on how to do it. They might be more inclined to help you if you're a possible customer.

Hot/ warm water with some metho in it, and a razor blade and alot of patience. You can do the sides but probably get them to do the rear, as if you break any of the lines on the demister...

Nope, you use the razor blade to lift up the bits of film which the tint is, if you run the blade carefully along just to pick up the tint you'll be right. You should be able to flick a corner and peel bits at a time, depending on how old and deteriorated it is. On the other hand I think Tint places charge about 50-60 bucks and as far as I know they use a chemical combined with the method I just mentioned.

I just use hot soapy water and a razor blade. It comes off a treat in big sheets

I tried the razor blade trick, didn't work at all...didn't even lift up the corners of the tint and i don't really feel like paying $80 for a tint place to remove it... Any other ideas?

How about you call the tint place, as I said earlier I got quoted only 40-50 bucks. Call them and ask how much they do it for, if its still too pricey for you ask them what they recommend.

a heat gun should do the trick. lot of tint places do this apparently. once heated up the tint just falls off in one big sheet so they say

Get a Steam Gun and a razor blade. Heat guns are used for shaping the tint to fit curved windows.
