hey everybody- well ive got a bit of a dilemma, I NEED TO LAUNCH HARDER!!!
iv'e got a vl valais n/a, recently sercviced jatco, pod, 2.5 in exhaust blah blah blah, usual n/a mods but not as many as i'd like.
well, im getting a mini- spool fitted soon and i want to be able to launch harder and light em' up at will as it takes a bit of a guard lift to get em smokin (although with my brand new VERY sticky tires it doesnt work even then!!)
so, thats my dilemma, and it needs to be fixed. will a stall converter fix this? it needs to launch harder off the line as 1st is way too sluggish but being a manual lover, im not too knowledgable in the area of auto dragging, wats the best way to launch? it only revs to like 1900-2000 rpm with the brakes clamped.
HOW DO I FIX THIS?? im not looking at spending a fortune as im putting an rb26dett in it with a 6 speed in a few months but need a fix 4 now so i can have some fun!!!
help with this PLEASE~!!! im open to ideas, methods etc!!!
l8r and cheers in advance, ben

Love your sig, twin T88's on a 2.6 litre engine?, righto Ben.
Anyway changing your diff gearing is the best way to make your N/A launch harder, go to 4.11 if you want, but it will come at the cost economy and low rpm/cruise speed.

haha imagine those suckers spoolin up, you could go bake a cake in the time it'd take to get boost in first gear!

Okay dude, this tip should be able to get you more rpms from launch. Hold the brake in firmly, like you would on any other start. But instead of reving it up, put the gear in neutrul and stab the accellerator pedal, reving it quickly, only once. You should be able to feel the brake pedal move slightly down more, right after you revved it. This will leave you with slightly more rpms to play with b4 you launch. It just holds the brake firmer, so that you can rev a little higher then usual.

just thought of a dodgy trick, you could put a G-clamp on the brake line near the diff, clamp it off so there's no rear brakes. then you could stand on the brakes as hard as you want, and i bet it will light up no problems at all.

Hehehe.. been there done that - great for burnouts (particularly with a minispool ), but I only did it for the duration of goin nuts, then took it off - Didn't like to drive around with no rear brakes...
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

yeah not such a good idea for driving around on the street, rear brakes are very useful things

I think you have answered your own question. Get a pair interceptors and some $80 kmart tyres or a pair of second hand tyres and save the other for daily driving.
