the head actually does bolt straight on, you just need to use some longer bolts, have a search on skylinesaustralia.com as it's been covered there a few times.

well i dont know if im led wrong...but ive been told the strongerest bottom end of the rb series is the 3.0L and that obviously the rb26 head is going to be the better of the lot....so i think it a good idea, for nice power.....let us know how it turns out mate

RB26 uses larger head bolts, so you have to redrill the larger holes in the RB30 block to suit. Probally the only major mod required. Mick

Have you tried finding a RB26 head for sale by itself? It's not as easy as it sounds.

RB26DETT engines arent cheap wen i say engines i mean u would problley have 2 buy an engine cause a wrecker will not wanna sell the head by itself or then he has 2 get rid of a RB26 block with no manifolds and no turbos. unless u can find a damaged engine like blown or somthin then u might be able to get a RB26DETT head but it dosent mean the head inside might be damaged u never know. why not just get a RB25DET head???get cams and GTR springs would probley be just as good ???

to fit the head, all you need to do is drill the head bolt holes in the block out and retap them due to the RB26's bigger head bolts, ive heard of people using RB25 bolts as they are the same diameter as the RB30 bolts and are the right length, however i beleive this is a dodgy idea. Only other mod is a hole on the front of the block for the idler pulley. all the oil gallerys, water jackets line up . Monster - ive never heard of a conversion kit, more info please, i dont know what it could have in it? The RB25 head fitted with GTR cams and springs etc, will not be the same as the RB26 head, there are an awful lot more differences than that!. RB30 the strongest bottom end, there are mixed opinions on that one, some say its just as good as the 25/26 bottom end, really they are all similar, although i beleive the RB26 is strongest due to a different crank girdle and the alloy sump helping a lot with block rigidity, also the shorter stroke of the 26 allows it to rev that little bit more than the RB30, although with the extra torque the 3L bottom end makes, you don't need the RPM. Thats my opinion.

ok so the RB26DETT head fits str8 on with just them lil mods aye. so which of the RB25 series engines including RB25DE non turbo models do not fit str8 on i heard the the R32 RB25DET fits on but wat about the RB25DET NEO from the R34??? and so on just asking and wats the mods that need to be done cause i know alot of people going out buying R33 engines/front cuts and so on and then saying its the wrong head or somthin?? yer i am sorri about that there is a difference in heads i was just not thinking lol different Vavles, lifters, stems and all sorriz 4 that boyz.

The only head that bolts straight up, is the RB25DE (NA) head from the R32 Skylines. (Very hard to find now) This head doesn't have VCT. If you use any other RB25 head from R33/R34 Skyline (Turbo or NA) it will have VCT, which requires mods to the oil galleries etc etc. The only extra advantage of the R34 RB25 NEO head, is that it has Solid Lifters like the RB26, but it still has VCT to modify as well.
