Hey, I’m trying to remove the brakes and need to remove the axle shaft in order to do so. I’m using the disc as a slide hammer and I’ve bashed the sh|t out of it and it won’t move a single milemetre Am I using the correct method?? Should the rear axle come out or do I have to un-do some nuts/bolts inside the diff housing as shown in the first pic? Thanks Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Ahh.. if u mean ur removing the axle itself to remove the handbrake assembly.. you dont have to dude.. U can still take all brake parts off without removing the axle. i've done it a few times. Long nose pliers (plyers) or however u spell them will be very useful. Goodluck

That is how you take the axle out. Belt **** out of the disc working your way around. No need to undo any more nuts. Yeah do what ollie said. A pair of long nose pliers to get the handbrake stuff out. Not worth thaking the axle out cause the backing plate is behind the brake stuff anyway.

I need to take the whole brake assembly out cos i'm putting it on another diff (Drum to disc conversion) I thought the axle shaft needs to slide out, in order to take the brake stuff off...??

no, the brake assembly needs to come off before the axle will come out
