Hey Guys,
Seeing as i have lost my license and have some time to be working on this kind of thing. I've decided to work on building a Sigma. Its based on if i can sell the VS but if i get things cheap enough i may just do it while keeping the VS.
Specs will be....
Looking at a GK Sigma, the driveline details are below.
Engine
2.6L Astron 2 motor (4G54)
Forged Pistons with Chromoly rings (Low Compression)
Magna 4g54 EFI Head, Plennum, Fuel Rail
Bigger Bosch injectors (yet to work out which model)
Braided fuel lines
Bigger Bosch fuel pump (yet to work out which model)
Custom Cam
Custom manifold
T3/T4 Hybrid
Turbosmart Ultragate 35mm External Gate
Custom exhaust from gate back
A.R.E Intercooler
Pollished 3" Cooler Piping
Turbosmart Boost Controller (Dual Stage)
Haltech ECU
Driveline
Sigma Auto box - will be sent off for a rebuild and toughening
Sigma tail shaft
Sigma diff - will be sent off to Diff Lapping to be checked out and toughened
I'm planning on using a few companies to get the work done and cleaned up but mainly sticking to local places. Places like Quantum Racing Industries, UMR Engines, Western Suburbs Auto's...

dood, honestly , just my OPINION. my mate had two bush bashers - a gemi and a sigma. the sigma is big, and is more boaty then a commonwhore. the handling was unbelievably bad. maybe consider doing the above mods to a gemi, they are alot lighter and look heaps tuffer than a sigma.
just my 2cents but apart from the handling of the sigma it should be sweet.
chris.

Yeah you're right... they are pretty boaty to drive. But then i am stiffening the whole chassis up, and seam welding the lot. I've got a mate who has a similar setup in a sigma and its twisted so much that when you launch hard now, the cabin light comes on because the doors are flexing open, and the bonnet pops open all the time. I don't want a cage cos its heavy and illegal.
Suspension will be looked at to with strut braces and so on.

For ****s sake...you go from a 4WD VS with tuff claw stickers to a Sigma...ever thought of actually buying a VL??? If not how bout buying something with atleast abit of street creed....You may want to go different, but it's been done....and after the last cretins that I saw in a Turbo'd sigma, I'm sure they are the crowning achievement to Springwood highs long list of successful Academics

My idea was to build the sigma while i'm on a suspended license, WHILE advertising the VS for sale. By the time i get my license back i'll have found a nice N/A Calais to drive around as a daily driver.

That makes it sound even more stupid....there is no way you can make this sound like a good idea, so give up.

Hey its a better idea then pissing more money up the wall on the ****in lexcen piece of crap.

The sigma project sounds stupid. I had a mate who swaped a mint Exec VL turbo for a oil burning turbo sigma box of crap, he wasnt the smartest tool in the box, but at least he regretted even doing so.
Your suggestion is a farce. Just spend your money on the lexen, take the stickers off it and put a supercharger on it OR just buy a fishing rod beacuse it sounds like you need another hobby.

Razor... can i start picking your comments to pieces now?
1 - This isn't a basic old stock turbo sigma if you'd paid attention to the spec list.
2 - If you'd bothered to pay attention to any of my other threads you would see my car is back to stock looks (of a commodore)
3 - Supercharging it would only be pissing my money up the wall.
4 - I already have a hobby other than the car, and funny you should mention fishing because my other hobby is exactly that. Only in January i bought a brand spankers boat.
Basically this thread has proved my long term theory that no matter what car i suggest building, i will still cop **** for it on this forum. Which is probably why i get on here maybe once a month, whereas i used to be thousands of posts ahead of others.
Anyone willing to offer CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions, by all means do it, if you don't have anything constructive to say, i'd appreciate you leaving my thread alone.

Heres an Idea...when suggesting a car to build on a VL forum, try suggesting a VL....seriously mate go ahead I don't care what you do with your money, but I reckon pi55ing it up against a wall sounds like a pretty good idea, well better then the sigma idea.

If you want moral support for what you do go join a self help group, but if you come on here and post things like this, then be a big boy and take it.
If I were to be constructive I would point out your notes about saying how a supercharger on your lexen would be 'p!ssing up against a wall'......and spending a butt load off cash on a sh!tty and unpopular model of car isn't...seriously dude think.
9yr old car with charger vs 20something 4cyl turbo sh!tbox..It can't be that hard to work out.

23-05-04, 01:41 GMT+10#14 I like ur idea rob... yes its an old car and yes its a sigma.. but it'll be a ****load more fun to drive than ur piece of **** toyota.. and u might actually get some respect on teh street when ur sigma beats cars like.... grants white calais - which.. is probably low 13 second material..
if u can build a nice lookin respectable sigma, that'll sit nice over a set of big wheels and have a tough package of mods capapable of gettin ur sorry ass down the 1/4 in less than 13 seconds... i give credit to you
goodluck with it rob.. !! bout time u ****ed the lexen off haha

23-05-04, 09:42 GMT+10#16 anyone know what a UC torrie would be like as a shell to put an RB30ET in? are they real heavy? there's a running one for sale (202 in it atm) at a car yard for 700 bucks and was thinking of picking it up as a long-term project. are they light cars? don't know 5hit about torries but it looked like it could be tuff with a nice engine in it

23-05-04, 09:53 GMT+10#18 hahaha yeah i thought about doin an old Torana with boost but theres just so ****in many of them around... an old LJ with a turbo 202 or something would be alright but cmon its been done.
At least doing a sigma and being able to get most of the **** cheap it would be something different and still able to pull high 12's or low 13's....
Same goes for a Gemmi... fair enough they're cool yeah but how many of those *******s have an SR20 in them....
