Lifters, does this seem expensive?

Hey all, my VL is currently in getting a blown head gasket and cracked head repaired, and while its all apart I was going to get the lifters done, as they are a little dodgy sounding, as this would save on labour costs to have it done at a later date. Although ive been quoted $600 for the lifters alone from various sources, I thought these were generally alot cheaper than this, more around the $300 mark. Does anyone know of where to get them from cheaper or have any experiances doing the lifters, please tell me bout it. Cheers, Dave

$40 - $50 ea (x12) sounds about right - not a lot of labour involved if you do them later - http://www.calaisturbo.com.au//showthread.php?t=19888 but not worth the effort imho as you'll not improve fuel economy or performance - are they really that noisy for more than a coupla minutes after starting ?

hey thanks for the reply, they are noisy starting up and every now and again at the lights and stuff.... not too bad, but i figured half the engine is ripped apart anyway so might as well do it now... but ill see what happens, aprently they can be had a lot cheaper than 40 - 50 $ , as the place that would be fitting them would only charge cost price and no labour
