yer it will be fine to get around in and give some stick on stock boost.
I was driving mine in 9psi with no drama, slipping a little putting the power down to overtake at 100 tho.

I drove around on a N/A auto box running 15psi for about 4 months giving it all hell, i basically lost O/D and 1st-2nd changing was about 4secs apart lol so it would be fine to use! but now i got a yarravalley jatco that is like gods gift to vl drivers! best thing ever hehe :P

Bolt in - all the differences between atmo and turbo auto's are the internals.

Is it an auto or manaul?? Dont think it said??
A manual will last you ages if you dont thrash the f.uck outta it, or do heaps of hard launch's n ****. The clutch will prob go first. Mine lasted just over 12 months (rebuilt) before the clutch started to go and then the centre bearing...had a pretty hard time though.
Doubt an auto would last long unless you treat it with care.

you will have fun with a standard gearbox thats for sure. give it between 2 - 3 weeks and itll start giving you head aches. slipping gears, missing gears, trouble selecting gears and stuff like that.
depends though realy on how many k's the atmo gear box has done and how much of a thrashing it was givin over its life

14-05-04, 12:06 GMT+10#10 i have a rather interesting question: will a turbo auto work fine with an n/a motor?
i have a rebuilt auto in my turbo and i want the turbo motor in my other VL, which is an immac. n/a 5spd.

14-05-04, 12:15 GMT+10#11 natho yes. itll work fine. only prob is youll need to take out the computer from the auto car in place it in the manual car as you need the turbo computer to run the turbo injectors and also so the turbo computer can recognise the boost as atmo computers cant.
using a auto turbo computer with a manual car works great. but a manual computer in the auto car doesnt work to well.
dont forget when you change the turbo to the manual car youll need to change the injectors and sh1t aswell.
so at the end of the day youll need to chase a standard atmo auto computer for the car your going to have as a atmo auto.
sorry if i dont make sense. but you should get my drift

14-05-04, 12:21 GMT+10#12 yes that all makes sense, thats what i planned to do. i have an n/a auto computer ECU here too.
i may try and sell the auto on here, its only done 30k kms but its only a standard rebuild so it may not be much use to anyone. shifts quite nicely though!

14-05-04, 12:57 GMT+10#13 the turbo auto box has a different valve body so that it can shift under positive boost, has anyone had it behind an atmo engine to see if it shifts properly?
