i'd say the AVERAGE is far from high 14's... more like mid 16's.

my vl is fairly stock as far as i can see, iv had the head off yesterday and the pistons were stocko and so is everything else by the looks except has a heavy duty clutch, a custom made cat back exhaust system with hollow cat and single strait through muffler (custom made by myself) plus pod filter
last test and tune i was at i got a 14.2 and i have also run it on gtech a few times and got a couple of 14 flat ... this thing is a freak and easy keeps up with most of the 8's around town, paint is realy crap and it looks like a ****ter so i usualy get alot of ppl trying to line me up for a race

i find that very hard to believe.. low 14's from a stock VL ? with an exhaust and a h/duty clutch.. doesnt sit right with me but if u say so
id say most NA VL's out there with standard mods such as exhaust headers and CAI would pull mid 15's depends on the driver and condition of the car.
low 14's.... im still giggling.

i agree no way will a non turbo pull a flat 14. i can tell u i have 3 friends with bt1s and when they first got them boosted them to 10 and put front mounts and were all struggling for 13s most low 14's so i cant see a stocker doing those times at all

yeah, that's bull****... maybe your mum has put like a secret nos system in there or something because a near stock non turbo VL is never going to do a low 14, i don't care what you think...
i've said this a thousand times but i'll say it again, my old na (auto) did a 15.93@89mph, it was pretty much stripped out as in no spare tyre no **** in the car, no boot carpet, just little things, it had extractors, 2.5" exhaust, cold air, no mesh in airflow meter even tho that pissy **** is so trivial it isn't even worth mentioning, advanced timing and running premium fuel... in my opinion it had a 15.7 in it but it wouldn't have gone any better than that... and i also don't care if it's manual coz it wouldn't make jack **** difference...
so for those of you g-tech dreamers thinking you can do low 15's to low 14's in your "near stock" na's, stop speaking ****.

12-05-04, 06:28 GMT+10#10 i'm with Jay on this one - I had an atmo Calais - only could get it down to 16.1 with extractors, exhaust, advanced timing, and PULP. Prolly could have matched Jay's 15.9 if i had 100kgs less weight in it (good ol calais)... Even if it was manual, there is NO way a standard vl n/a with exhaust will do low 14's.
Now that I have a calais turbo running 9 psi boost with 5 spd manual and 200rwhp, I am only hoping to cut into the High 14's - that would make me happy.
Keep dreaming dude.

12-05-04, 11:16 GMT+10#11 i ran a 15.39 at calder on a 40 degree day and on 17's (the only reason i did so was because there were no turbos in that kinda heat and i got heaps of runs). i noticed heaps of power loss cause of the heat because it just didnt wanna pull and heaps of wheel spin cause of the 17's (this may be due to the fact that im not doing burnouts on $300 tyres).
I wanna run it again soon then i'll tell you what times i get from a worked NA in heaps cooler conditions and on 15's. im guessing around a mid - high 14's hopefully!!! Then i'll get a bigger intake and run it again and see what i get!
Let yas know

24-05-04, 16:41 GMT+10#14 I've got everything Jay had (jvl87) and I had a r00ted converter and ran a 16.7 at 85mph. Flat 14's ,tell him he's dreaming. Unless he had a 100hp nitros kit hidden somewhere!
