Does the VB use the same shocks as a VL does for the front struts, im not sure. If yes then I can get these gas shocks off a mate for basically nothing and save 160 bucks!

Im petty sure they are mate from VB to VP they are the same. Check at your auto parts store in the parts catalouge and compare part numbers.

This is true, VB to VP all use the same struts and shocks and springs!!!!
VR went to two piece struts!
