My parents bought this VL NA executive back in 1986- the year i was born. I never really appreciated what could be done to it until i got to highschool and started getting into cars. After reading various car magezines and seeing what could be done to VL's i became very intrested in doing up the one my parents had. Unfortunately i didn't have no money and my parents wanted me to realise the importance of buying stuff myself so they made me save up for everything i spent on the car which i'm glad they did in a way cause i appreciate it more. Anyway when i was 13 i bought a Itlavlanti leather steering wheel with a boss kitt second hand for $180. I was reall happy with this and decided to keep saving for another mod to the car. A year and a half later i decided to fix the supension up which was awful. After stopping at my local Pedders dealer they installed for me The Sports Ryder Suspension and lowered it for $2500. I know i spent a lot but the car does handle like something else but comfort is defiently not its forte. Anyway i was well and truelly happy now with the car but couldn't spend anymore on it till i payed my dad back the $500 i owed him. Once i paid him back i had more costs with extractors after realising that my engine pipes wen't clearing any speed bumps due to the ride height. I decided to go for Advance extractors and these cost me around $300 from memory. I was much happier by how the car sounded and how it felt under the mid range rpm (although i could never tell fully because i never drove it due to me being 15). A few months before i got my L's i finally got some mags for the car. I bought some 16" Mags second hand off dad's mate for $400 and was quite happy with these as a temporalliy thing. About 3 months into my L's my dad decided to generously give me his VXSS brakes (i had to pay for installation) as he was getting some HSV brakes for his SS. The brakes made a huge difference too the car and with the suspension it handled just as good or better than some of the modern cars today. Anyway soon i tired of the boring note of the VL's exhaust and got a 2.5 inch cat back exhaust with no center muffler installed for $220. After getting my P's i went through the hoon stage (still going through with it just not as bad) and fried my tryes around everycorner i came to. Within 2 months there was no rubber at all on the back. I really wanted some VXSS wheels but was short of money by $300. I decided to sell my old rims and that would give me enough money hopefully to buy them. Dad agreed to loan me the money and i eneded up with VXSS wheels and new tyres for $1000 and sold my old rims the following day to a mate for $350. The pics you see below is how the car is at the moment. Some of the other mods i have done is a cold air intake, increased advance timming to 19 degrees and installed a K&N panel filter. I'm quite happy with the car as it is at the moment as it has enough power to keep a 17 year old happy enough. I'm now saving for a turbo but without a job and the HSC and parents that make me buy everything for the car it might take a little while. pics (http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/aceridge/VL%20CommodoreFrame1Source1.htm) Anyway thanks for viewing and your comments.
