well i just tried to install a 1 inch master cylinder to my n/a, and when i depress the piston (with fluid in the reservior) nothing comes out of the outlet holes! now i KNOW that fluid should be coming out of there, because they are the brake lines, and that's what they do. also fluid comes out of the outlets in my 15/16ths cylinder that's in there now. no matter how many times i depress it, still no fluid. opened it up, and there's a bit of gunk in there which i cleaned out, blew in the end and air came out of the first hole (rear brake line) but no others. with the piston back in, there's a small trickle out of the rear brake line but no others! so basically if i installed it i'd have no front brakes. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!? do i need to soak it in something to try and clean it all out? the piston bores appear to be fine as do the rubber seals. any ideas?

Sounds like the pistons aren't pushing fluid for some reason, maybe stuffed seals, blocked passages to resevoir or outlets. Is everything in the bore, that should be in there? Pull out the service manual to check this, something may be missing. To be safe though, I would get the entire outfit reco. Brakes are very important and it aint worth the risk Mick

yeah i am thinking now that's it's blocked outlets, what do you suggest to clean it with? soak it in metho? all is fine inside the bores, so it's mechanically working, just not pushing fluid where it should be. hoping it's just blocked outlets!

fill the resevoir with metho , and depress the piston for ages , hopefully it shall pass it thru metho is the best to use to flush ur brake system if not , pay the cash and get it reco'd , brakes are the most important aspect on ur car ps most m/c reco shops wont sell the kits , as it is a liability thing , as ur not a pro to reco them , and if u do it dodgey and ur brakes fail and u crash , u can bring it back to them. just pay the quids and get them to do it.

listen, fagchops. the seals and everything are fine, i looked at them myself and they are in better nick than what i have currently. there's no leaking or anything, i just think that the valves (outlets) are closed. i'll soak it in metho and let ya know how it goes.

shonky doesn't quite describe them right now, i was late for work so had to (very quickly) put the old 15/16ths cylinder back in, so didn't have time to bleed it properly. the brake pedal gets halfway down before it starts to engage. seriously scary to drive! but if you stamp on it it still locks em up, which is okay to limp around on for a day or so.

fill it up with fluid and push the pistons in all the way and while holding the pistons in place your fingers over all the holes and release the piston and the fluid will suck back through the cylinder do that a couple of times cause u need to bleed the cylinder up best to do it in a vice. that should help
