ok as most of you know I have a RB20 turbo engine in my VL, im goin to upgrade the turbo, injectors. What is a good replacement external fuel pump for a stock N/A Vl fuel system??
What im wanting to do is leave the pump in the tank and just replace the external unit with a bigger pump, this any good??

i have been told that the standard vl fuel pump can handle up to 350hp?

that be true, you may also want to look at a malpasi pressure reg or something, and an air/fuel mixture guage just to make sure it aint leaning out....

A VLT fuel pump is only any good for around 200-220rwkw after that go get yourself a Bosh 044 pump
I was running a N/A pump after i did my conversion but it said goodbye at 150rwkw

go the bosh or something owen... might as well spend the money once and get something that is going to handle the power... the intake pump is just a lift pump....

I've done a heap of searching through the forums and I can't find a definet answer about wheather the vl n/a external fuel pump is the same as the vl turbo external fuel pump. Some people swear they are the same and others say no. Does anybody know the almighty final answer about this?
Sorry to steal your thread a bit VLRB20DET, but since you mentioned it I thought you might know.

a bosch 910 is a good buy at about $200 ... and good for about 450 hp
a bosch 984 is about $250 and good for 600hp, lot more head room in that... also very easy to fit, only needs a little thread to 5/16 barb adaptor and it bolts straight up to everything
bosch 044 is huge and good for 800hp, and good value at $280 but requires a few fittings on both ends to hook it up
the internal pumps are good enough for quite a lot of power, but just make sure its still in good nick... flow test it, standard they do 2L a minute... tho when i tested mine it put out 500ml in 10 seconds :| bonus!

standard n/a and turbo are both bosch 070 pumps.
but really it dosnt matter if your gonna upgrade
think about a malpassi fuel reg or something too.

but at the moment theres a few for about $335 in the for sale (advertisers section) ... but an 044 can be overkill for what most people here want
