My car will hopefully be making 500hp by the end of the year, and last weekend i blew up it's single spin turbo diff. I've been offered a 9" single spinner which has 32 spline axles, already shortened to suit the vl, for $1k. I've also been offered a rebuilt 3.08 LSD centre that i can put my 3.45 crown wheel on for $850.
Should i take the 9" or not? It will mean modding the tailshaft, and buying a new LSD centre eventually with 3.45 or 3.9 gears, but i could put it in as it is for now and swap centres later.
What's the best option? 9" or not?
9" diff are quite big and heavy, and I think an overkill for most VL's. The axle size will be 31 spline, then upto 35 spline, the stronger being billets. You'll probably have to go a 1 piece shaft, which ever way u go make sure it's setup correctly else you'll have no end of vibration coming from under the car.....
I didn't think there was a 3.08 ratio for the 9"
Mmm... The 9" is somewhere around 3:1... And i guess 31 spline if that's what they came with, **** i must have bad hearing or something. It's probably a bad idea to get the 9" if i ever have to get another defect cleared...
already done... I'm putting either my 3.45 or a 3.9 gear on a rebuilt LSD out of some V8. The 9" thing was just going to be too much trouble.
