Just wondering how much people have spent on their vls ... I was sitting down trying to add up how much i was going to spend on mine and all of sudden just on the engine alone it was way above 15 grand .... then i still had to paint it, get rims and get suspension and a stereo. Would be interested to see what the likes on 700hp, other big name vls have spent ... and in the end is it all worth it? Also did you do it in stages? If so what were the stages?

Certainly not a "big name" but in 16 years and 4 months of ownership I've spent $28,342.26, or, if you add in the cost of the car when new, make that $53,134.26......and the bloody thing is still stock !! See how privileged we are.....With VL's you don't have to have a car capable of 10 second quarters to spend big money on it. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Owned car since about febuary. Spent close to 5.5 grand on it already and it doesn't even run at the moment. wish I hadn't spent so much now, because I need to replace the cracked head. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I purchased mine for $3800 sold parts off it for $2000 Bought new parts n resprayed it. Set of new wheels & other bits and pieces. Now owes me $4862 and counting lol Pretty cheap considering. Stage 2 calls for a calais shell and fit the turbo conversion.

I'm hardly a big name either... but thanks for making me feel special I bought my VL in 1994 for 14k. First round of decent mods gave me 320RWHP, and it cost about 9k to do it, including an engine rebuild. That's where I should have stopped, because after that, things got silly. Probably spent close to 80k on the car in the last 5 years... so it owes me over 100k all up - but in the last 5 years, it's probably only been driven 15,000 kays - that's the silly thing - it's been in workshop after workshop. Advice? Don't start, cos' it'll never stop. Whilst I get a tremendous amount of satisfaction from the car, the frustration you get from taking it to workshops can be more heartache than it's worth sometimes. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
